Gordon's has Taco meat on sale this week. Has anyone tried it before? We are doing a taco bar for dd's graduation, so this would be a big time saver over making it myself, plus cheaper. But, I don't want to get it if it's not good meat!

Any reviews would be appreciated! TIA :goodvibes

Is this some kind of pre made seasoned hamburger? If so, I wouldn't touch it; who know what's in it? I prefer shredded beef tacos anyway.

I have never eaten it but my daughter's swim club uses it for the nachos and walking tacos they sell from the concession stand. I am guessing it is good because they always sell out!

I tried when I worked for them years ago, and did not care for it. To me it had a weird texture and aftertaste.

When I was involved with a Girl Scout summer camp a few years ago - we would get the precooked taco meat - not from GFS - but a food supplier was located near the camp. (If any one knows Girl Scouts - all meat coming in to any function MUST be precooked - which is why we did not cook ground beef and add taco seasonings.)

Again - we used a different brand - so YMMV. If you have other great fixin's to put on the tacos - sour cream, guac, a great salsa, olives, onions, tomatoes - the whole 9-yards - I think this will be fine. (If you are just doing tacos with cheese and lettuce - that might be a different story)

For a HS grad party trust me - you'll be busy enough, so if this saves you some money, and helps out with the amount of work you need to do - I say go for it!

Is there any way you could buy 1 pack of it - and have it for dinner, and if you like it - get more before the sale ends?

I bought it for a Boy Scout function, and while the kids ate it the adults didn't care for it. How many pounds of meat were you thinking you'd need? I figured one pound of meat for 5-6 tacos.

"Taco Meat"?? Just the sound of it makes me gag!

No, I wouldn't touch it. Buy yourself some lean ground beef and use taco seasoning.
