We will be taking two boys age 2 and 4. I thought I had settled on the Poly but then....... I read that you only have balcony rooms on the 3rd floor (which is smoking) so I have hit the forums again trying to make a decision! I would really like the boys to see the electrical water parade and fireworks (I am assuming they have these in Sept).

The price difference isn't that great between the 3 resorts, the cont is about 300.00 cheaper than Poly and GF is about 100.00 more than Poly.

So, if anyone could help with my decision I would greatly appreciate it!

THanks

If you've been priced at the CR for 300.00 less than the poly, and its the concierge floor, I would of booked it immediately, that price is usually higher than the poly lv conc. . Many people rate it as one of the best to be in. I have not stayed in gf, cr, or poly (yet) concerige but have been pricing them and reading threads. Seems like there has been some problems with the gf, that I read but I would do a search on these topic's. remember that the cr has 2 levels of concerige, 1. cr club level, with very limited offerings, 2. Full concerige 14th floor. GF also has 2 levels, 1. lodge concerige & the main building one Royal (something or other?). Check out the fax's on the top of the resorts board for details. Good luck, but snag that CR one if that is truely the price for the 14th floor. MKY

We just got back from the Poly with our two boys (4 and 6) and we loved it. You are right that the 3rd floor has balconies and is smoking, but which is your concern? Some people are concerned with small children on the balcony, others are concerned with the smoking. If you want smoking, I think you only have the 3rd floor. If you don't want smoking, I can tell my wife and I are both non-smokers and found no smoke smell at all on the 3rd floor.

That's a pretty big difference in price! As much as I love the Grand, I'd probably go with the Contemporary for such a large $$ difference.

I stayed with my two boys at the Contemporary (in a garden wing room) in both 2000 (4 yrs and 2 yrs old) and 2001 (5 yrs and 3 yrs old). They both loved it! We also spent time at the Poly (where I had stayed once) on each trip and my boys both vote the Contemporary as their favorite. Positives of the Contemporary include: (1) home of Chef Mickey's - a great stop on any trip (and a kid favorite with Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale and Donald) ; (2) very kid friendly Food and Fun Center for quick breakfasts, snacks, drinks, etc; (3) short walk to monorail (the boys thought it was super cool that the monorail went through the hotel - that may be why they love the Contemporary so much); and (4) good place to watch electric water parade (at the end of the Contemporary dock). On our next trip I might overrule the boys and stay at the Poly (another can't miss pick), but for the money you're talking about the Contemporary seems like a pretty good pick! While the GF may be the best of all the hotels, my opinion is that CR and Poly come across as the most kid friendly.

Drbcw, welcome to the Dis! I have done concierge at both the GF and the Contemp (I haven't stayed in the Poly yet). I don't think you can go wrong with any of those three resorts. They all are different and yet they all are Magic Kingdom Resorts. If you can't decide, then let the price dictate which one you reserve. That is probably what I would do (but I would probably get out-voted by my husband who has his own "favorite" resort).

I should also mention that even if you don't get a room with a view of the lagoon, you can always watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the shores of any of those resorts. I actually prefer to watch it from the shore. That way I get to experience it with other resort guests (I'm a real people-person).

I'm thinking your rates are for the Contemporary Tower Club, the Polynesian Concierge Garden View, and the Grand Floridian Lodge Concierge? Am I correct? If so, just the Polynesian and Grand Floridian are actually "full" concierge services (however, the Grand Floridian's lodge concierge does not serve wine or cordials).

I guess I would vote for the Polynesian, for several reasons. We just stayed at the GF RPC for 3 nights in May. It was truly magical...we had a castle view that was just the icing on the cake. That said, our original (cancelled, long story) plans were to stay at the Polynesian Concierge. From what I've "read", it seems that the P concierge is more child friendly. You are also guaranteed a castle view, at least from the lounge! In the GF there are little tables and chairs that are special for the kids, but I didn't ever get the impression that the "staff" was all that excited to have them around. I was always nervous when we went to the lounge. My kids were very well behaved, but I kept shushing them. There was no soda or water available most of the time. We had to ask for iced tea in the evening even and the staff member seemed like it was such a big hassle. I've heard that the P has bottled water that you can take to the parks and soda available. I've also heard that the offerings are better suited to children. (GF also had a small childrens table, but selections are few)
Don't get me wrong, I loved staying at the GF! If it's one of your dreams to stay there, chose it! It truly is magnificent! You will not be guaranteed a castle view. (and if you're in the Lodge level, you CAN'T get a castle view) The lounge does not have a castle view.
Sorry, I'm just rambling here. I've only experienced GF RPC so I can't speak from experience of the other places. Through research, I think I would select P if you truly can't decide. Go middle of the road...on expenses.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Lisa:)

I have stayed in all three resorts concierge level. In my opinion the poly is the best, eventhough their staff has fallen off alittle from what it used to be, I guess it will take awhile to break in the new staff. The RPC at the GF leaves a lot to be desired. I agree that the concierge staff at the GF act like they really don't want kids there and that's why after two days we left and went back to the Poly. We stayed with concierge at the Contemporary on the 12th floor I think it was and it was only partical concierge and to me it was a real let down. I guess because I had sampled concierge food layout in the other two resorts. The staff was gone by 4pm most days and it was an effort for them to make reservations etc. It may have been and off time for them but I wouldn't spend the extra money for the Contemporary Concierge or the GF concierge again. I like both hotels and would stay in regular rooms. Now if you definately want a view from your room of the water pagent and concierge then I would suggest you book a lagoonview room at the Poly.
