GF typically discount-free in December?

I received a pin in the mail last week and have checked online every day for availability with the pin at the Grand Floridian during our next trip (Dec 9-13), but no luck. There is still rack rate room availability whenever I check through the regular website. Is it frequent for Disney not to offer GF discounts at any time during December because of the popularity of its holiday decorations? Maybe they figure enough guests will pay $ to stay where the best decorations are. I cannot think of any other reason that it would not be discounted during this usually quiet time of year (early-mid Dec). Is it likely that the GP discount will still not include the GF if it comes out? Has anyone else had luck getting the GF with the pin in December?

I'm just trying to assess if staying at the GF for this trip is a lost cause...

I tried every possible combination of dates to get a gv room with 3 diifferent discounts available to me bb, interline, and ap rate, and nothing was available. The only time a room was available was the week before christmas. It turns out we can't go at christmas, but yes I would say there are not many discounted rooms available at GF that time of year.

Thanks for your response. Ugh, so frustrating! I guess we will just have to suffer at either the Poly or BC.

Can anyone else confirm that Disney doesn't discount the GF in December? Does anyone remember seeing discounts for the GF last Dec?

I have an AP, and there are dates available with the AP discount in December. I was going to book it, but on Sunday the AP rates for GF became unavailable, or I guess sold out. We kind of had the same problem last trip, no availablity, we waited it out, and the rates pop up again. Hopefully the same will happen this trip. There is a free dining offer on right now, I check the dates and there is a availability. Maybe a general public code will be out soon, and than you can get the dates

We used a 40% off pin at the GF CL the second week of December 2009. We could have used it last year as well but decided to stay in a 1 bedroom villa instead. (If it comes out, check staying CL, it only cost about $60 more than it was going to cost for a standard room.) We loved it!!!!!

I booked a BB (40% off) in January 2010 for a stay at the GF in December 2010 (12/17-12/21). Then in February of this year, I received an email pin code (40%) and booked GF SL for this December (12/19-12/24). I have since changed resorts as my DH and DSs wanted to stay else where, but I had no trouble booking the GF with a 40% pin code either time .

I tried to book the BB for GF and there were no rooms available the week I was looking at which was 12/11-12/17.
