GF studio villa

I think my girls would love it because it looks so regal and fancy. We are checking in on a sunday or monday and I thinking of doing only two nights at vgf while we do one day at mk and a resort day and mnsshp at night. then head to the poly for 4 nights.

DH wants to try something new! I would rent points though as it is sooo much cheaper than rack rate and it makes me a little nervous to rent points.

Just be aware that VGF points are renting for higher rates than other DVC points. VGF owners have been listing their points (and getting) $15-$17 per point on the rental market. It'll still be a savings over booking through Disney, but it's something to be aware of.

Thanks for the heads up! I am not sure if we would even be able to get it for our dates. I have a feeling they will be popular!!
We are looking at september 2014. when could I start looking at renting points??

With as small a resort as VGF is, you'd have to rent as soon as the 11-month window opens. So in your case, that would be October 2013. And also be prepared that you'd likely have to pay the full reservation amount up front if you're renting points, it's not like Disney where you can take the full year to pay the reservation off.

thanks. Having never rented points before. is there someone u recommend??

The more I think about trying gf the more i think the girls would like it!

The Rent/Trade board here on this Dis is a good place to start. There are also two brokers that come highly regarded: David's DVC Rentals and DVC Rental Store.

The only issue is the brokers may not have very many VGF owners because people can rent the points on their own for a much higher price than the brokers are willing to pay.

Also, Google is your friend when it comes to finding places to rent points.

The problem with "renting points" at GFV is that most members who just bought there plan to use their points to stay there on their next trip. So that might mean there won't be many points to rent for GFV reservations to get the 11 months or anytime more than seven months out. They are not going to give their points to a broker to rent and only get $10-12 a point when they can make their own reservations and get $15-17 a point. And that could mean no chance to rent points for a stay at GFV.

Plus, points are only able to be use for the inventory that has been sold and declared into the inventory. As more inventory is sold and declared, more villas will open up for points.

It might be easier right now to book for cash directly through Disney. And with the high number of points required for a reservation and the high price that members are renting their GFV points, it might be more cost effective to get a reservation directly through Disney for cash.

do you mind me asking who you booked through??

Sure - we did it through DVC Request and paid $14 per point. Because of it being high in demand, we were only able to book three nights at the villas, but booked the rest of our stay at a different resort. We are excited to stay at the villas, even though it's only for three nights :).

That's because of the BLT layout and the size. It's the smallest studio. GFV layout is much better and the square footage is more too.

We are a family of 4 and have stayed in studios many times. We don't find them cramped, but we wouldn't stay in a BLT studio because of the size and layout. I would have no problem with the 4 of us in a GFV studio, especially since there are 2 showers! We like the sofa during the day and only pull open the bed at night. But, if our stay was anything longer than 4 days, we have to go to a 1 bedroom. It's just more comfortable for us for longer stays. (we spend a lot of time at our resort)

Can you let me know where you see that it has two showers??

that is awesome for a studio!! really leaning towards the GFV and wondering best way to secure it?!?!

Your best bet to be sure and get it for the dates you want is to find a renter on the rent/trade boards offering GFV points (the generally are asking $15-17 a popint) at the end of September or the beginning of October that will rent for you as soon as the 11 month window opens. You may have to pay completely up front and you will be highly unlikely to get an 11 month window from a broker. Make sure to check the stickies about renting so you are comfortable with the terms and conditions set forth by the renter. Also realize if you want full safety or time to pay spend the money to go through Disney. Renters at the GFV have the upper hand and will be charging a premium for their poiints atr 11 months at least for awhile until it is either easy to get into at 7 months or people are not interested in renting at GFV.

You can't post looking for points or your post won't be approved. To make things safer for all there are rules in which DVC members can only post they have points available to rent no one can post asking for points to rent. Your best bet is to continue looking at the new posts on the rent/trade board and see when a member who owns there posts. I can't guess how many people who own there will be renting points. We own but our using our points.

I don't think I would have ever really wanted to stay at VFG but the studios do look amazing!

i knew it was going to be popular so i booked a cash res. I tried with David's a few times but not available.

when are u going? we arent going till september 2014 so when can I book with disney??

I priced it out renting and it is about half to rent points vs disney cash reservation!!! that seems crazy!!

You won't get daily housekeeping. You won't have clean towels, but every four days. You will only get the towels you get, no extras unless you pay for them. No additional shampoo or shower gel or conditioner. Just what you get every four days. So if that is important to you , you can pay for those services, but they won't be free.
