I called to check dates for January 11-14 and there were no rooms available..... anywhere at the GF. I couldn't believe this, so I hung up the phone and called about an hour later. This time I got a different CM and they told me the same thing. Does anyone have any idea why? This is a very slow season. The marathon is the weekend before this, but most people go home on Monday. Any thoughts?

There may be a convention.

You never know when it comes to conventions (that's the way Disney wants it). There are so many activities going on that we are completely unaware of. The only busy time I'm aware of is the week beginning Jan. 15. MLK's birthday. Since innaguation day is Thursday the 20th, the government is closed TWO days that week and since my regular day off is that Friday it only seemed right for me to take 2 days vacation and get a 9 day trip out of it, so I'm booked at the WL Jan. 15 for 7 nights.

I called again last night- convinced it was just a snafu in the system- and I got the same results. I'm surprised that you could go online and find availabilty. I wonder if that has changed? It must be due to a convention. It could also be MLK, but I doubt that would sell out the place! Well- thanks for the replys anyway!

That is odd. I just tried online again and there were rooms available. Unless you have to get all the way to the deposit payment application part before it tells you the room isn't available??

There is a huge veterinary convention (the North American Veterinary Confernance) in Orlando January 8-14, but the host hotels are off-site. Maybe some people are wanting to stay onsite though. There may be other things going on as well.

karebear,

Can you look it up online at disneyworld.com? I checked and they are showing main building concierge, lodge concierge and lagoon view rooms available for 1/11-1/14. I would suggest that you either book it online or pull up all the information and then get on the phone with CRO again. Something is definitely wrong with one of their inventory systems.

If you're patient, wait until September or October-I bet there'll be room available then. Two years in a row, I called in August for the first week in January only to learn that my first choice hotel was full. Second choice? Full! Third? Also full! Panic, cry, etc. For some reason I tried again a couple months later, only to learn that THEN all 3 hotels (I think they were POR, POFQ, and BC) were all available in all category rooms. Strange! Never found out why.

My TA got me a room- Garden view for 389.14- now , my next question is-

Are there degrees of garden view room rates? All info I see says that GV rooms are around 325 for that value season time. ACtually I'm hoping to get an AP rate. But in the meantime, I'm absolutely curious about what is happening. Like I said before... I've never stayed at GF- I've stayed at other deluxes and never seen this happen before! So- if any of you can answer the new qusetions I'll be thankful!

OH! I forgot I went to the Disneyworld site a few minutes ago and they had lagoon view, concierge, tower and garden view available.... go figure!

karebear, there are no levels in the garden view rooms. Typically the pricing at the GF starts at the low end for garden view, then builds up to lagoon view, then lodge concierge, then main building concierge, main building concierge deluxe and finally suites. If you are going during a slow time, then there is a very good chance that you'll be upgraded to a lagoon view room. It all depends on resort occupancy though.

According to Mousesavers.com, rack rate for January of '05 is $349. With the 11.5 percent tax, the total comes to $389.14, which is what your TA got for you. Hope this helps! :)
