GF or WL help!!!!

We planned to stay at the GF this year for the first time. DH and I have stayed at the WL 3 times with our DD (3 yrs) and last year decided to try some place new in 2002. So we made our reservations for the GF garden view without a second thought and then.....the codes came out.

Well we had a hard time getting the GF for all 6 nights to start (had to call several times to see if we could get our first night) and finally got all our nights at the GF. Then when codes came out they said the hotel was booked and that the codes were not good for those dates (believe this since I had trouble getting the one night). But they could give me WL Courtyard View at the code rate.

My question is should I stick with our code rate or go to the GF at rack rate. Transportation has never bothered me at the WL, so that was not an issue, I am just wondering if the GF is worth all that extra money?? My DH told me to do what ever I want, if I go with code rate I plan to take the extra savings for DCL next year.
Sorry I rambled, just looking for someone who has experienced both.

I would stick with WL. You know that resort and the happy with it. I would never stay at a resort for rack rate, unless you can afford to spend the extra $$$. Just think, the money you save not staying at GF you can do other things with , like dinner shows, souveniors (sp) or spluring on some Jewery from the Disney Jewelers on main street, Whatever you decide have a great trip.

I wouldn't pay rack rate for any resort. The GF is great, but if I were you I'd stick with the WL.

We just returned from the GF & although it is a beautiful resort, I'd go with the WL...I personally don't think the GF is worth paying the rack rate for if you can get a good rate at the WL. What we loved about staying at the GF was being on the monorail, but if the WL transportation is fine for you...go for it. Our next stay will be at the Poly (again for the monorail).

Gotta go with what you can get the discount on! Unless, you really have your heart set on the Grand Floridian, then I might spend the rack rate. Have you gotten rates for the Polynesian? You might be able to get a discount there.

Oh goodness, there is NO comparison... if you can get a great rate at GF, jump on it, and don't think twice! Comparing GF to WL is like comparing apples to oranges, in my estimation. GF has a softer ambience, the restaurants are great, it is on the monorail, and very convenient, it has a brand new pool, and you just can't beat the view!

I love the GF, but it sounds as if you really like the WL. That being the case... stay at the WL! Save the GF for another time when you can get it at a discounted rate.
It doesnt make sense to pay rack rate when you will be perfectly happy at the WL.
Plus... I can't think of a better thing to do with the extra saved $$$ than put it towards a Disney Cruise

Stay at the WL for a fraction of the cost of the GF rack rate, the GF will be there next time

Thanks for all the input...I did check the Poly rates and could not get all my nights (this is the problem when you go during NJ Teacher Convention Time, My husbands only complaint about the whole trip). I could get the Boardwalk with the codes but I just love the MK area. Both my husband and I grew up always staying at the Poly and we that was our second choice until the codes came out.

My husband left the choice up to me, so I need to make the decision pronto so that I can plan our PS.
