Getting what you deserve

:thumbsup2 It's amazing what we have survived. Frankly, I think we benefit by keeping a balance in power over time. I wouldn't want either party, especially in the extreme, to continue to rule. There is something to be said for checks and balances. :)
I absolutely agree. In some ways, it was a good thing for the Clinton administration to have a Republican Congress.

Hey, to all bummed Republicans: you had the exec. and legis. branches for the last six years. They screwed it all up. Not just for liberals, but for all Americans. You should be mad at THEM.

Wow, that didn't take long. The election isn't even 24 hours old, and already the "we love and support the military" mask is already slipping off the face of the Democrats.

This Is The Problem....

I Can And Do Support The Military.....

Supporting The War Is Another Issue Entirely.....

Gop Will Have U Believe.....
If U Dont Support The War....

I agree, that is bull. However, SPW's comments weren't directed at the war, they were directed at the military. Two totally different animals.

Oh, please. Remember Rumsfeld and going to war with the army you have instead of the army you want?

I absolutely do remember it, and as I posted on another thread here last night, I found his comment to be very insulting to the military as well.

For those of you who have helped to hand the House to the most radical left-wing liberal member ever to foul its halls, I sincerely hope you'll enjoy the following:

Higher taxes
Gay Marriage
Millions more illegals flooding through an unchecked border
Free medical care, college tuition, etc. for those illegals
24 hour abortion clinics
A degraded military
Further erosion of the family and values

I also expect that this country will be hit worse than on 9/11.
The Muslim extremists are getting EXACTLY what they want -- more spineless Democrats ruining America. They will be emboldened like never before.

I may have to join the Baldwins in Canada.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever read.

Um, Brenda I doubt the poster meant what you're inferring. I took the post to mean training, equipment and materials weren't what they needed to be to fight Bush's war. Good try though. You sound a little bitter. Relax. We both know the pendulum swings both ways.

BTW, big ole lib Democrat  here and I have no mask to let slip. My support for our men and women in uniform has never wavered. I want them home, safe, soon! :thumbsup2

I guess now Rumsfeld will have to run a war with the Congress he has rather than the Congress he wants...

I know, right? I opened this thread thinking the admonishment would be directed toward Republicans, getting what they deserved.

I wonder why the OP wouldn't want to run to Mexico? He/She could see the good life there that so many strive for. :sunny:

In what way? Where did I say that I did not support the military?

The comment was made by the OP that the military will be degraded. My response was to point out that if it was in such great shape under the Republicans, we wouldn't be in the fix we're in over there. For that matter, the war would have gone so swimmingly that the Republicans would not have lost the election.

Nope, not bitter at all. As I said last night on the election blog/thread, congrats to the Democrats on their big wins. I don't think it's good for the country, but it certainly isn't the end of the world, or of the United States. I think bitter would be leaving to start my own board to cry about the election, as happened a couple of years ago. ;)

As for the post in question, if the poster meant training, equipment, etc., fine, but that certainly wasn't the way I interpreted it. "Um...if our military was all that great now shouldn't we have won the war in Iraq?" seems pretty clear to me - the poster doesn't seem to the think the military is all that great. Perhaps she can correct me if I misunderstood.

Hey, to all bummed Republicans: you had the exec. and legis. branches for the last six years.

And the Democrats would be wise to review that history. Once the excitement of the win is over, they're going to need to take a hard look at their choices. The Republicans lost the power due to greed and arrogance. Those traits are NOT exclusive to one party.

Spend the next two years reviewing the last 6 and doing nothing to solve the problems we face will virtually guarantee that they will lose the gains they've made. If they increase taxes on businesses resulting in wage freezes and increased prices, people will run screaming from them. If they tax the oil companies and gas prices go up, people will run screaming. Let's face it, these businesses and oil companies will not cut profits to pay taxes, they're going to pass that cost onto us. Granting social security and other benefits to illegals and other felons will send people running too.

Deal with Iraq, get Rummy out and get someone competent in there to get us out without looking like a paper tiger. Get tough on Homeland Security, nothing else matters if we aren't safe. Pass Immigration reform. Ironically I think that has the best chance b/c GW's plan isn't that far off from the Democrats. Fix the problems with No Child Left Behind, it was a joint bill with Ted Kennedy originally, get them working on it again! Find a way to close the loopholes in the tax laws so that people who aren't paying now and are making BIG money pay their share. There is SO much good they can do with this power if they resist the temptation to be vindictive, greedy or arrogant. Be the party that really changes things, that's what the people voted for.

It doesn't seem to me that saying the military isn't all that great is showing much support.

NeverEnufWDW,
You'd be suicidal if you lived in MA, not only do we allow gay marriage, we elected a Democratic governor and he's Black too boot.
We even allowed a lesbian to run for Governor here. Imagine the horror if she had won. :lmao: :lmao: I'm just glad that Broadway Mitt is going on to bigger and better things in D.C.

.

Yeah but you guys rejected wine in the grocery stores so there's some semblance of family values. ;)

But what do I know? I'm living in RI where Democrats trounced in most of the elections, felons can vote, but at least we rejected the casino :rotfl:
