Hoping someone might have some advice for me! We're planning on spending a day at Universal during our trip, but are kind of clueless how to do so. Is a taxi our only option if were staying at a Disney resort? Can we book it ahead of time?

If anyone has ever done this, please let me know!
Thanks!

Taxi is one option, but not the only option. You can do a one day car rental at the Car Care Center near MK, the Swolphin resorts or some of the DTD resorts. You can hire a car service, there are many in the Orlando area, you can set up a round trip.:goodvibes

ETA: oops, I almost forgot, there is Lynx bus service for the Orlando area; I've never used it, so I hope someone with more info will respond.

There is an entire thread regarding this at the top of this board...getting to US/IoA. It has lots of great advice.

We always use Mears. You call the day before to arrange a pick up time They pick you up at your resort, drop you off at Universal, then you call about an hour before you're ready to return to get a pick up time to go back to WDW. They may stop at another resort, but even when they have, we've always been able to get to Universal well before opening. It costs $19.00 round trip.

That's how we get there as well...works great.

We also have used Mears in the past. One of the better "shared ride" shuttles out there.

We had the same questions last Fall when we were there and had arranged for the Mears Shuttle. When we were waiting for the shuttle to come one of the hotel workers said it was a lot faster to take a taxi and cost about the same. The Mears shuttle has to make a lot of other stops to pick up a lot of other people and it takes alot longer. They will call you a taxi right at the front of the resort and they come right away. It cost us about $25.00 each way, but it would have cost about that much for the Mears Shuttle. We were glad we took a taxi.
