We're having our team dinner at Trail's End tomorrow night. I was just made aware that you can't just drive right to the restaurant and park nearby.

How long does it take to park at the main lot and walk to Trail's End? I also heard something about buses in the campground. Are those as quick as walking?

We are coming from POP, and just need an idea of when to leave:). Thoughts on quickest/easiest way to get to dinner is much appreciated:)

Karen

Thanks!

hi Karen, you will probably get a good response on the transportation board. have a great time!

It is a little over a mile from the parking lot to Pioneer Hall as the crow flies. There are 2 internal Fort buses, both of which will get you there. I would leave at least 30 minutes once you arrive at Fort Wilderness to reach the restaurant
Have Fun

Agree w/ PP. Some people have gone to MK and taken the boat over to FW to get to Trails End (this is what we do). It can be faster. But either way, allow a min of 40 ish mins to get there. Their internal bus system works fine but it does make multiple stops along the way.

If you are going during the heated months (now thru mid Oct) you'll be a big ball of sweat walking from the main parking lot to Pioneer hall. If in winter, it's actually a nice paved walk.

as a poster said it is a mile from front parking to Trails End. as to your question of how long to walk how long would that take your group to walk a mile also all outside and you will be really wet if it is storming as you arrive as it is a campground. the buses run about every 20 minutes but will make a number of stops on the way if others on bus or to pickup others so it could take 20 minutes or 5 minutes depending on stops. another possible way there would be getting to MK and taking the boat over with the dock being a short walk from Trails End. either way you will have to do the reverse back after dinner. you will be inside while eating but it is a separate building with outside walkways from either boat or buses and outside waiting for both

Is this an outdoor restaurant since it's a campground?

No it's inside but you do need to walk from the internal bus station to the Pioneer hall. It's maybe 1/8 of a mile. Same if you take the boat over from MK. You can see the Pioneer hall from either the boat launch or the internal bus station.

From POP, I would take the bus to MK and catch the boat to FW. The boat lets you off very close to the restaurant. The boat ride over is one of my favorite things to do at WDW. Its so nice and relaxing and easy. I would leave POP an hour and a half before your reservation time just to be sure but FW is nice to hang out a bit in if you are too early.

This is also how I get to Trails End from POP. Boat from the front of MK is the easiest and most straight-forward route. If the weather is nice, then its a great ride. But bear in mind that if it is blowing rain, it is much less pleasant. The boat will be covered top & sides but still not fun in heavy rain.

Thank you all, so much! We ended up just driving and taking the internal bus. I'm so glad we found out about the extra step ahead of time, or we would have been late.

This was a great experience! All 22 of us absolutely loved the meal and the environment.
