Getting to MK on NYE

If MK is at its highest stage closure at, say 9:30 on NYE, will I be able to take a bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the MK bus drop off, in order to get to my room at BLT? Or do they stop running buses to MK in those circumstances entirely?

There will be bus service to get you to BLT even if the MK is "closed".

Would that bus service be going to the MK, or am I looking at going from AKL to HS/Epcot, then a bus/monorail to the contemporary? If the latter, I may rethink a 7:20 Jiko reservation. I will need to be back to BLT by midnight.

Thought about a taxi, but I'm concerned that on NYE, the cab wait will be as bad as the bus transfers. Perhaps at 9:30, things won't have gotten too bad yet. Anyone have any experience getting cabs at 9:30 PM NYE at Disney resorts (or anytime before the obvious crush after midnight?)

If you get on a bus at AKL that says Magic Kingdom on the front, it will drop you off at the bus stops at MK.

But will a bus that says MK on the front even show up if MK is closed?

I don't know, I think that is what the OP is asking. :lmao:

I believe they suspend bus service from the resorts to any park that is at Stage 4. Your answer, while correct, doesn't appear to answer the OP's question. ;) :goodvibes

It will not. They do not run buses to closed parks.

Thank you. That was my question.

And as a bonus I learned that, indeed, if I get on a bus that says "Magic Kingdom" on the front, I can expect to be taken to the Magic Kingdom. Though I guess even that may not be the case if MK hits stage 4 "en route".

You should be able to ask the first bus driver you see if the MK is closed. If it is then you can take the bus to Epcot, then monorail to the MK line and monorail again to your resort. You will need to show your MB (and maybe even have it swiped) to gain access to one or both monorails.

This is the most confusing thread ever?!:scratchin

I have the same question as OP, and am not entirely sure I understand the answer.

I have NYE ADR's at HDDR and need to get from SSR to FW. I am afraid of taking a cab and being stuck in traffic for hours with a $200 cab bill...LOL.

So, what are my chances of being able to take a MK bus from SSR to MK and then take a boat to FW for an 8:30 HDDR show on NYE?

If it's more trouble than it's worth... I need to know now and consider the possibility that I can't get to FW by 8:30 unless I leave SSR by 4pm... which I refuse to do (spend 4 hours traveling).

If MK is at a stage 4 closing, buses will not go there. You will either have to transfer at a park that is still open or DTD. Or you can take a cab. A cab will be the quickest option.

While you might want to allow a little bit more time than you normally would, you are not going to be stuck in traffic for hours. If you decide to take WDW transportation, you would be safe budgeting 2 hours total. For a cab, an hour should give you plenty of time.

Everything that I've read seems to indicate that MK will hit stage 4 closing anywhere from 6 to 9 at night. So, you would be taking a risk banking on a bus to MK for your HDDR time. However, from SSR, you could walk to DTD and take a bus to FW.

I also think a cab will be fine for you as most people will already be in the parks. At least I hope so, as I'm hoping to catch a cab from AKL at 9:30 or so.

he route to FW from SSR is all "back roads" which are less crowded. I think you would be fine taking a cab. Where are you planning to see the NYE fireworks? You can also take the FW bus from DTD. It's an easy walk from the Congress Park bus stop.

Funny.

Unless I recognize a poster's name, I never assume how much a poster knows about WDW transportation.

I would like to watch NYE fireworks from Poly beach (after we leave HDDR - figured we'd head over there.) BUT - then I have to deal with getting back to SSR from Poly after midnight. Was hopeful that DTD busses are still running then... or else maybe there will be cabs waiting outside Poly to take randoms back to their own resort?:confused3
