Getting to Mass without a car from Disney

My wife and I arrive in August and would like to attend the Saturday evening 6PM Mass at Mary Queen of the Universe (our arrival day). Since we will have no car, my understanding is that one economical way to do this is to simply take a Taxi from Disney Springs and back (apparently DS is closer). I am also considering using Uber, but due to some recent bad press on them in my area, my wife is uncomfortable with that option, especially since neither of us have any experience with them.

I suspect there will be many Disney guests at this Mass and was thinking what a shame it was we couldn't arrange to split the fare with another couple or family, etc. (to the benefit of all) but I'm not sure if there is a practice way to get that done.

Anyway... just wondered if anyone had practical suggestion for getting to Mass and back that evening that (vs. if we should just book a taxi and move on). Since this is also the arrival day for us (and we were not planning on going to the parks that day), we're thinking we'll probably spend our 1st evening exploring Disney Springs after Mass. Thanks for your input.

I think you've hit on the tow options, taxi or uber. I'm not sure why you'd go to DS though as the difference in price between that and your resort would be minimal but the time savings would be tremendous.

You might be interested to know that the church is adjacent to the outlet mall, in which there is a Disney outlet. You might want to head over early and do some shopping, or do that after church.

We have gone to mass there but always have a car. I haven't noticed cabs waiting after but I wasn't looking. It's a lovely church but, sorry to say, the music has always been bad! Hopefully that's changed.

Not sure I would worry about getting to DS first unless saving 5 or 10 dollars is really critical. Lot of rushing around on arrival day. Mass is packed there so if you expect to sit you need to get there early. Also because of the mall traffic is horrendous. We always go to mass at corpus Christie in celebration on Sat at 4 or 430. Lovely church but packed. We are those Catholics that arrive 5 or 10 min late and never find a place to sit!

I remember the days when Disney had mass at the luau place at the Polynesian! On Sunday mornng. The priest was wonderful. So sorry they stopped it many years ago.

RE: “I'm not sure why you'd go to DS though as the difference in price between that and your resort would be minimal but the time savings would be tremendous.“ This is very good point. I will definitely consider going right from Pop-Century to Mass if it makes more sense time-wise.

Thanks for mentioning Corpus Christie as an option (they offer an earlier option too which might even work better for us.… their website today indicates 4:30PM Mass on Saturdays ...great tip).

This wouldn’t be a big deal if we used Uber (I checked their estimates from these locations). I just need to get a sense of how safe/reliable they are in that area (fear of the unknown really since we've never used them, not to mention recent negative headlines in my area).... Thanks again. I’ll monitor in case there are additional comments.

We've taken a cab over to the church and it's an easy process. You can hail one at DS or at your resort. I think the fare is around $10.00 one-way. Many drivers will pick you up after Mass; either agree on a time or exchange cell numbers. My recollection is that the Mass runs over an hour, so plan accordingly. The grounds are quite lovely and there is a gift shop.
