I thought that on our arrival day I would like to head over to DTD. We arrive at 4:30pm on a Sunday so I figured by 7 or so we would be ready to head out. I have a couple of questions. First what is the easiest way to get to DTD from FW? We really wanted to go get something to eat and look at the shops. Will everything still be open?
Thanks, in advance.

The easiest way is to take the internal bus/golf cart to the Outpost Depot and catch a DTD bus there. Fastest would be by your own car or taxi.

Most of the shops and restaurants at the Marketplace should be open until 11pm on a Sunday night.

Thanks for the reply. How long does the DTD bus usually take to get there?

15 minutes. Its a quick drive from FW to DTD.

Yes, it takes only about 15 minutes from the time the bus picks you up at the Outpost to get to DTD, however......here is the possible long time travel event.....

You leave your site and walk to the loop bus stop. The bus left the stop just before you got there so you will have to wait for the next bus. Could be from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

You finally get to the Outpost just as the DTD bus is leaving so you have to wait for the next bus. Could be from 10 to 20 minutes.

Add things up and it could total an additional 35 minutes worse case. Been there and had it happen

If on the other hand you get to the loop stop and the bus just got there and when you get to the Outpost the bus is waiting there for you:goodvibes, add to the 15 minutes an additional 2 to 4 minutes. Been there and had it happen

I always plan for worst case senario. I was planning on at least 45 minutes minimum so even the 35 min is not that bad.

I seen your ticker are you going to be at the fort the first week in december. We arriive then too for 10 days in the campground we love it there. word for the wise dont forget your golf cart.

I looked at your ticker again I see this is your first trip. We love disney, belong to DVC and my kids think they live there and we come home for vacation. If you have any questions feel free to pm me and I will do my best to help you. We especcially love fort wilderness even though we belong to DVC. I think the fort will always be our fav.

Heres our favorite way to DTD. Drive to French Quarter, a very short drive from FW. Then take a boat from there to DTD, I think about a twenty or thirty minute boat ride. Relaxing, enjoyable, scenic, but definitely not the fast way to get there. Two must-stop places for us at Marketplace , where the boat docks, are Earl of Sandwich, where the overstuffed sandwiches are a meal for us and we think the prices are the most reasonable at DisneyWorld, and Ghiradeli for a free chocolate square. I've been known to go for the free sample several times in an evening. Have a geat time. Nice change of pace from the Parks.
