Getting the "REAL" Dis Characters to a hometown party

Hi All,
Well after looking around, I'm hoping I posted in the correct place. My DD will be having a Sweet Sixteen Party next January. Although it will not be like the infamous parties on the MTV show, I do hope for it to be very nice. My DD is obsessed with Disney, mostly Stitch. Is there a way to get the "real" Character to my DD's big event? I'm about an hour from NYC and I know they have all the costumes there. I'm sure it will be big bucks but I don't even know if it's possible! I would only do this if I could get some real characters, I don't want the cheesy knockoffs. Any information would be appreciated and I'll apologize in advance if this is a silly question!

Your best best, I think, would be to contact The Walt Disney Company directly.

I agree with the previous poster. You might want to re-post your question on the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board. You may get more answers there. I'm interested in knowing about this, too. I'd love to get Tigger to come to my birthday party!!

Thanks! I will repost on there, I would love some info on exactly who to contact in WDW. I can only imagine it be like finding a needle in a haystack finding the proper channels. Thanks for your input and suggestions!

You can always contact Disney as suggested above, but I strongly suggest you go ahead and make plans without them. Disney tightly controls their copyrights and the use of the their characters and I would have to guess that the chances of them coming are pretty much next to 0. They just don't do that sort of thing. Sorry to be a wet blanket but I don't want you to get your hopes up.

I understand! You're not being a wet blanket, it's just reality! I pretty much figured that would be the case but I'll probably check it out just in case. Lucky for me the party is not centered around anything like that, it would just be something nice for DD. I'll probably just take her back down and get a bunch more pics of her and Stitch to go with her 100+ shots she already has! thanks for the information.
