Getting stuck on a ride post

No evacuations yet for me... lol... but my last trip... hands down the most times a ride has stopped for me.... People Mover esp... Buzz a few times... buttt.... one year for HM for me... I dont think it was guest that needed the assistance... We werent sure if they were acting or not... but a few CM's were arguing and kept stopping it... we had to stop like every 5 min it felt like... and would sit for a bit...because they kept arguing over stuff

I'm curious... I see these comments on being stuck 20, 30, 60 minutes... what would they do in the event that a ride stopped and a child seriously started freaking out, as in anxiety-panic attack? My son would absolutely LOSE it, and I mean he'd be trying to jump overboard if he got stuck in the dark. There is NO way he could sit there 20 or 30+ minutes waiting to be evacuated.

I'm guessing CMs will get there when they get there, and you will just have to sit there and wait?

I was on Great Movie Ride once when an elderly gentleman in front of us keeled over. People started yelling, and CMs stopped the ride immediately. We sat there for more than 10 minutes before EMTs got there. Very surprising and disappointing to see such a slow response. Luckily the guy just passed out from the heat and wasn't dying.

Sometimes there's only a handful of CMs working a ride, and it takes time to get everyone off. When we got evacuated off Everest, one CM came up and let us out one row at a time, and then led us down the stairs single file. Same thing when we got evacuated off Pinocchio, one CM walked through the ride, let out one car at a time, and led us out single file. I imagine if there is a kid screaming his head off, CMs would try to prioritize getting him off first, but I imagine they have a process and safety is first and foremost.

Another story, from Wedway, ride stopped for some reason. After about 5 minutes, a mother and son apparently decided they didn't want to wait anymore and climbed out. Of course, if the cars had started running while they were wandering along the track, it would have gotten ugly. Ride got shut down while CMs escorted them off the tracks (and hopefully from the park), we ended up sitting there 20+ minutes.

We were stuck on Splash Mountain at Disneyland for about 30 minutes. Stopped right at the end, about 100 feet from the ride exit. There was a walkway we could have stepped out onto and walked to the exit but they would not allow it. Bad part was we stopped in front of Brer Rabbit who was singing the same song over and over and over. Then people on every log along the way started singing with Brer. A few minutes was funny but 30 minutes!!

BTMRR Evacuation. Going up the inside hill towards the end.

They said any cell phones out would be confiscated.

And we could see why. Terrible mess under that mountain. Actually seemed kinda dangerous to walk through even.

Lots of water dripping and mud and junk everywhere, tools etc. Really a long cumbersome walk and very weird.

Similar to a cave tour, and a messy one at that.
Exact same thing for us. We sat beneath those moving overhead boulders for about 15 mins. A bit uncomfortable since we were on an incline.
Walked through a hidden door in the wall and down the stairs. It was pretty crappy in there.

Last Dec a group of us were on ToT...there were probably 8 guests not with us. We made the final drop and just stopped. Sat there for about 15 mins, then moved about a foot. Dat for another 5 mins or so. Sang Christmas songs! When they finally opened the doors, it was an area I've never seen! Told we could ride again. Two of the 8 not with us walked away. The rest of us rode together again.

we have been stuck on a ride more then once in the last 25 years...but Tuesday evening was the craziest of them all.
We were on the People Mover and we had a few stops and goes...and then right before we went into Space Mt. it stopped again...we sat and waited and it was wicked hot...no breeze at all...then the annoucements came..your ride will resume momentarily...stay seated..after about ten minutes..another one ..a hostess will be with you right away..stay seated...and then it happened..we had to be evacuated off PEOPLE MOVER...walked over the race car area...and that took (I think) forever...it was a long walk..to a door that led to the stairs inside a store...we all got a fastpass ticket...to anything except the Mine Train Ride...strange evacuation..

How about your experiences

We were "evacuated" from the PeopleMover in November. While the ride was, I put it in quotes because we had already reached the unloading platform but stopped just before the door opened. So it bad to be opened manually. 2 of my kids were in a vehicle behind us and the were told to sit tight--while the rest of the ride was evacuated. They were not at the platform.

We did get a Fast pass out of it.

Not sure what happened to make it stop other than it had to do with cars getting too close together and accumulating at the end. Our car bumper another and just before we stopped, another car coming in bumped. Have no idea if this is a real explanation--but I stayed at the top waiting for my kids and chatted with CM's.

20 minutes on small world. They didn't stop the music and we didn't get evacuated as it eventually started again, but it was the longest 20 minutes of my life.

I was with my family when we were evacuated from the Nemo ride at Epcot a couple of years ago. We got stuck at the part where the sea turtles are. We had to sit in the dark and listen to a turtle talk (loudly) about the E.A.C. for 20 minutes. I thought I was going to lose my mind. Eventually the lights came on, and we were all escorted out.

We were also evacuated from the Ariel ride at MK, and it was a similar scenario with being escorted off. That time it was because a scooter got stuck and couldn't get off of the ride. We seem to have bad luck with sea-related rides.

We were also evacuated once on the Monsters Inc ride at DL.

I also remember seeing space mountain with the lights on once, but we weren't evacuated.

Not at Disney but at Cedar Point in Ohio my kids got stuck on a roller coaster right at midnight closing. My daughter has a diagnosed anxiety disorder and went into a full panic attack. In order to evacuate her they had to call their emergency squad to be able to evacuate her. My other kids and other riders had to remain on the ride. I'm thinking that Disney would have a similar procedure that they could/would follow.

Last September, we got stuck on PotC. It was a day or two after it opened from its long refurb. We got stuck right by the auction scene. We sat in the dark for about a half hour, then the lights came on, and they unloaded the boats one by one. We were one of the last, a guy in waders got in the water and pushed the boats to the edge, while other CMs helped us out. We had to walk the long way out back behind Jungle Cruise. Overall we were stuck about 80 minutes and I missed my FoF parade FP. It ended up being ok because my toddler was sleeping, and we were in the dark and air conditioning, nice nap time.

I'm certainly hoping it will never happen. It would definitely ruin vacation. That said, we also pretty much intentionally kept him off rides that it would be an issue last time. Other than Test Track. We tried that. That was an epic failure, lol.

I was in the section of IASW that has the bird in the cage and the woman with the pineapple on her head(I forgot what it was called so I improvised)and suddenly...IT STOPS. And the worst thing? 1 hour. One. Full. HOUR. I almost went insane for listening to that song for so long!
It's a small world, it's a small world....:crazy2:

It probably can't be avoided sometimes. If I were you, I would bring a small flashlight in case your car ever gets stuck. I used to do this when my children were young, just in case.

I still rather get stuck inside a ride then a crowded monorail, that would freak me out. I don't even take the monorail anymore after reading about people getting stuck in it for 2 hours.

Yes. A wise man once said there's nothing more magical than being stuck 25 feet in the air in a metal and glass tube with no air conditioning.

We got stuck on Everest on the hill for about 20 minutes and on Indy at DLR which was cool as we got to see the ride with all the lights on.

That's about the same place we were stuck at (just before BR), and we were evacuated via that exit. It leads to a backstage area, kind of industrial looking, and it's not really obvious where the exit to the park is from there. (There were a couple college-aged boys in the boat with DD and me, and they bailed before the CM came back to 'rescue' us - she was none too happy.)

Btw, the backstage area at Grizzly River Run in DCA is a mess. Looks like a very disorganized garage or workshop (someone's hipster bike was back there, too).

The worst is getting stuck on Spaceship Earth in front of Rome burning. Not fun.

Got stuck in HM right at the dinner/ballroom. It was great to be able to sit and really study it, but a little disconcerting when they turned on the lights to walk us out.

Me and my DF always talk about hoping if HM stops that's where we stop for the exact reason you stated.

I've been evacuated off POTC. It was before the "drop" so it was an "easier" and "quicker" evacuation. We got "anytime" paper FP. I kept saying it was the revenge of Maelstrom because it was the night after Maelstrom closed and POTC and Splash (obvious both water rides) went down. I actually have a video nothing all that interesting but cool none the less.

Nothing at Disney but we got evacuated from the Men in Black ride at Universal. They didn't handle it all that well. We were one of the last ones off the ride and I saw them handing out "fast passes" to everyone in front of us then when I went up to get ours we were given the third degree and asked where we were on the ride when it broke down as some sort of proof. It was still cool to walk through the ride though.
