Hi Everyone,
I've posted a couple msgs concerning starting my WDW album but still have some questions. I finally finished my beach vacation album from last year and now ready to get started on this one. How does everyone else get started? Do you sort through your pictures and decide which ones you want? Do you already have some ideas on layouts that you have seen on other websites? I thought I might get a shoebox and take index cards to use as seperators. Then for each day and park put the appropriate pictures in that section. I have postcards, the Mickey Coasters from our room, the key cards, fast pass stubs we didn't use and several things I have saved from our trip. I don't want to miss out on any memories and would hate to get through one Park of pictures and realize I left something out.

2nd question...I bought a Princess scrapbook album several months ago at a very good price from JoAnne's. Question now is how many pgs will this album hold? There were 10 pages in the album when I bought it but that won't get us through the first 3 days! I took over 17 rolls of pictures!! It was our first trip and probably our last one for a very long time.

Thanks for any suggestions and ideas you can share!

I am working on my 1st WDW scrapbook (we went this past Easter) and I have only gotten a few pages done.. They are mostly World Showcase pictures etc... I have 11 rolls of pictures to choose from and a whole bag of stuff form the dtd store in which to supplement my other scrapbook stuff...

Oh I forgot! I did scrapbook princess pictures! I got the cutest accents with princess dresses etc form michaels....

I too would LOVE to hear how others go about thier WDW scrapbooks!

What I do is like Day by Day in chronological order. Like if on our first day we do Chef Mickeys and then Magic Kingdom, I would have Chef Mickeys in my album first and then the Magic Kingdom and what we have done and so forth.

Basically though all my pics have the resort stuff in them first, like the map they give you at check in, any resort pictures and our key cards and go from there.

I start with the resort. Then move on to the parks. MK first, sometimes I will do a 2 page layout on an area like Main Street, other times my layouts feature a ride. I use the same border design for all my MK layouts. This year because it was Tinkerbell's year, I used a small sticker in the top corner border of each MK Page.

I then move on to the next park changing the border. For the Disney MGM Studios I found some Disney frame by frame movie film paper. I cut the film strips and used them as the MGM borders. They worked out awesome and fit The Theming so well.

I save all my Disney Catalogs, sometimes using the cover to highlight a special attraction. This year I did a layout on Festival of the Lion King one of the catalogs featured the Pooh Characters in a scene from the movie. I cut the cover out and worked it into the layout.

I'm running late for church so I will be brief, but this is what I do for a WDW vacation scrapbook. First of all I do chronological order. I keep a diary/journal during the trip and I use this along with the photos in the book (it turns out to be kind of like a large, illustrated trip diary!). I have digital photos, so I just choose the photos for each page as I go along, and print them at home. There are TONS and TONS of Disney themed items available for scrapbooking.... do a search here for some websites and companies that sell this stuff! We have all posted links about this stuff at one time or another. Sorry I don't have time right now to post the links!
To keep from losing track I keep a printed copy of my trip diary on my scrapbook table. I read along and pick out photos for whatever the 2 page layout is going to be. If I have an event, such as a parade that is going to be more than 2 pages, I try very hard to keep it an even number of pages (2, 4 or 6) so that the right hand page isn't another event ..... sorry if that sounds confusing. I usually include any souvenir items (ticket stubs, maps etc) on the "intro page" to each day/park. Wish I could be more clear, but as I stated...I'm running late!

One WDW vacation I did a separate album; for that album I actually scraped it by park.

Our couple of trips I did those by days.

The best advice is to decide in what order you want them in and then sort all of your pictures that way. It was easier for me to spread my stuff (pictures, memorbilla, etc) out on a table and then get started - that way, I don't forgot something.

Also, I have found, for me personally, I do much better if I go ahead and get all of my stuff together when I return home in the order I want to put them in my album even thought I made not work on that album for awhile - that w,ay all of my stuff is together in one spot.

I do a combo of cronological and by park/activity. I start with are resort and scrap all the photos we took at the resort reguardless of what day we took them. We tend to park hop alot so I group all the park picures together. I also group all the "activity" pictures together...breakfasts, downtown disney, etc. I then organize them loosly in chronological order. I also organize the memorbilia I've saved into it's category. I store everyting in a expanding file by group. Once it's all organized together I decide on my layouts. Sometimes I have to do a little reorganizing because of layout size. Hope that makes sense.

I'm in the chronological day by day scrapper catagory. Once I get my photos back, I seperate them out into LO's to see if they will be one or two page spreads. Then I can get my supplies ready and scrap away!

I think I use less pages if I go with the park by park method. I sort my pictures into parks and resort, etc. Then I subdivide into just enough pictures to do a two-page layout. I stack each set of pictures on a 12 x 12 piece of cardboard with the papers and fibers I plan to use and sometimes a note about what paper piecing I plan to make. Then I stack the cardboard in a box. It makes it much easier to pull out the box and scrap a layout or two. Hope that helps.

Your question about how many pages will your book hold. Depends on how lumpy bumpy your Layouts are. But if your book is a post bound, you can always buy more page protectors, and sometimes they include post extenders, or you may have to buy them seperate. But the post extenders will allow you to expand your book to fit your needs.

I have the same scrapbook with Mickey Mouse on it and I've put all 3 of of trips so far in it. The refill pages do come with posts to expand the book. I have a question for all these veteran scrapbookers though. If you sort through your pictures and pick the best ones for your layouts, what do you do with the rest of the pictures??? My problem is that I want to keep them ALL. Any idea?

For those pics that aren't the best, but I can't get rid of, I tend to do a collage page. You can do all kinds of collages. Some with more order than others. Look for layout ideas that feature many different pictures. -- One time, for snorkeling photos, I "tiled" the edge of the page with a mosaic of fish pictures. There were just so many of fish, but I couldn't leave them out!

Thanks to everyone for your great ideas and suggestions. I have all my pictures, postcards, and other items in order and have started sketching out ideas. On my first page I have Orlando Vacation 2004 in large funky letters I bought from JoAnne's. I haven't decided what I want to put on the bottom. I saw a great idea on the 2Ps website using small tags for each day we were there and what park but don't really like it now that I started it. Glad I only laid it on the page and not attached it! Thinking I might use one of my postcards w/Cindy's castle or M & M together --have several. On the 2nd page I have a couple shots of my girls at the FL Welcome Center on I-75 and wrote about our drive down. 3rd page I have the map of POR and journaled that page. That's as far as I've gotten but I think I'm going to put the Resort pictures in next and then go by chronological order for rest. We did just one park per day so that'll make it easier.
Thanks again for all your help!
Happy Scrapping!!
Oh--the TwoPeasinaBucket website and Mousememories has been very helpful w/layout ideas if anyone is looking for ideas.

I love the suggestion about the collage page. I just hate not using all my pictures. I had also seen another suggestion of doing the alphabit - A is for Alladin, B is for Boat to ... etc. I am going to get a small 4 x 6 album for this this year. I love showing my Disney pictures to everyone but not everyone loves looking through huge books. I figure I can carry this small book around in my pocket book to show friends when we get togethger.

I usually do my Disney books in day by day order. For EPCOT I did one page - per county. I always try to get one pictures of just me - group picture - in front of of something that represents that country.

That small album idea is great too. But I get even more confused - do you use duplicates of pictures that you have in your big book? Or how would you decide which pictures to put in each book? I get bogged down with decisions and then get none of it done.

I'm not sure what pictures I would put in small album. When I used film I always got two copies, now with digital I usually don't. I make my pictures at CVS. I guess I would just make copies of the ones I really like - the good thing about digital. It does take a long time to make copies because I like to crop them and enhance them but I think it is worth it.
