I am thinking of going "club" level this summer at AKL and today I spoke w/member services and asked them if the view is savannah or standard. The CM said it can go either way and to request savannah view and hope to get it. If I am going "club" route and spending a lot more points how can I be sure of getting a savannah view over the standard view? If I cannot be guananteed a savannah view, then I want to book elsewhere.

I've had the pool/roof view once and the savannah view once. I have 2 more CL trips booked. There is no guarantee of which view you will get.

This is just my honest opinion but, i really don't think that you book "club" level for the view. You book "club" level for daily mousekeeping, turndown serivce, club lounge and the extra's that come with the conceirge level. If you get a savannah view, it's just icing on the top of a great room. But like i said it's just my opinion and since i don't OWN at AKV i will probably never get the opportunity to experience the conceirge rooms. I have AKV envy right now as we really enjoyed our last trip there. I would book savannah view if that is truly what you want.

Well said. If you really want club level and you really want SV, do a split! Book a few days SV to experience the hotel theme at its best, then stay Concierge to feel pampered! Best of both worlds!

We requested, but did not get a SV for our club level stay. I was disappionted, but It didn't make a difference once we got into our stay. The other ammentities on floor 6 more than make up for the lack of a SV.

Also, without the SV, you will be more likely to explore the grounds and see things as up close as possible.

We just booked at 7 months out for April 2011 at AKL. I could not get Club level studio for Wed/Thurs, but could get Club level studio for Fri/Sat. We booked two separate reservations, 2 days studio savannah view, and 2 days studio club level. I know if we don't get the waitlist we will have to change rooms. We will see.
Our arrival date is Wednesday April 6, 2011.
Update: This is a pre-cruise pampering trip, so savannah view is not the top priority, booking the sunrise safari is..

I have stayed Club level twice at AKV, and both times was on the savanna side. I want to agree with earlier posters that the view is not as good as from regular savanna view rooms. I book Club level for the pampering, and the opportunity to book the Safaris.

Now next May we'll be at the opposite end of the spectrum, in a value studio at Jambo. I'm sure that will be a good trip too.

As noted even the savanna view at club level is not that good and if you really want good savanna view go with a savanna view room. There are only 5 2BR lock-offs that are club level, making a possible 10 rooms total. Two of those 2BR lock-offs are on the pool side and the other three have savanna view; However, one of those three is a handicap room and thus your chances are really only about 50% to get savanna view.

Update: I called itinerary planning and booked the Sunrise Safari for April 10, 2011 my actual birthday...the same day we go on the cruise. Still hoping to change it to Thursday if my waitlist comes thru.

I hope your waitlist does come through! We both enjoyed the Sunrise Safari!

You can request to do the safari on a day you are not staying concierge, as long as you are staying concierge.

Agree with the other posters. We've had a pool view studio once and a SV studio once and believe it or not, we preferred the pool view. The SV is so high up and limited its not even worth it. Also, our SV room was the one closest to the lounge and every morning we heard the CM's getting ready for breakfast and smelled the coffee brewing, which wakes me up right away! Our next trip in January I am requesting a pool view as far from the lounge as possible!
