Getting room # before arriving...

I should rephrase... if it's before 3pm and they have confirmation you are onsite, reports say the text will trigger at that point. If it's after 3pm, I suspect they'll text you at any point since most, if not all rooms will be ready. No experience with this myself, just relaying what other reports and another thread I read today seem to be saying.
This makes sense because when taking the Magic(al?) Express from the airport to our resort, we had to scan our magic bands and thus indicated that we were on site. Many others on the bus received room numbers at the same time.

You use your Magic Band to open the door. We were advised to have each person in our group use their Magic Band to open the door upon arrival.

I received a text at 8:51 a.m. while driving down to Florida. We went straight to the room when we got there at noon. We never needed to go to the front desk. It was great!

Is the packet with the map and pamphlets you normally get at check-in sitting in your room or would you still need to visit the front desk if you want one?

It's supposed to be in your room. But there have been many reports that it is not. I always have a copy of our resort map downloaded on my phone so we never use the one provided.

Our room has never had the packet when we've used the text option. We haven't needed it, though, since everything seems to be available online or in the MDE app.

Hoping it's the same for us!

I've had it work at POR, in late May, and again a week or so ago at SSR. At OKW, in late May, it didn't work. Never got any kind of notification that time...had to go to the front desk and check, and yes, our room was ready! That was around 1pm. At POR, I got the text while at the airport....had driven in, got the text before we got to the DME area. For SSR, I got a text at 9:30am telling me my room wasn't quite ready yet. Then, I got one around 2 telling me it was now ready.

I still think that's not the case. Folks are getting the room ready text far earlier than 3pm without having arrived on property or scanning their bands at the airport.

No, I was in the airport waiting to board my plane and I received a text. It was about noon, maybe a little before. We had to to check out the location of our room and text our family that was meeting us there the next day.

In March, i filled out the on line check stating we would be there at 11 am. We drove, we were about 30 minutes out when we received a text and email with our room # and map of the resort at 10:57 am. We used our magic bands to scan into the parking lot, unloaded and went directly to our room. My only concern was a parking pass, so we went to the concierge to get one (not even sure if we needed it). Night before check out they slipped the receipt under the door, and we were out and on our way at 6 am. Never had to go to the front desk, it was awesome.

from what I have experienced, if your room is ready they will send you a text whether your have confirmed you are in Orlando or not. I have received room ready texts three times before ever scanning anything at a Disney location. (twice before even boarding a plane for Orlando). the AOA text came about 12 noon, well before 3.

If you scan your band to check in for a ME ride, you will then recieve a text that says your room is not ready (unless it's ready and if it was ready you would probably have already received that text.) You then get another text when it's ready. So all you'd have to do is drop off any carry-ons and get going, you would not have to go to the desk. I haven't experienced that because I've been taking late flights on the check-in day, so my rooms are usually ready before I even go to the airport.

I haven't paid attention as to whether the maps and pamphlets are in the room as most of the time I don't use them.

When we stayed at the Treehouse Villas last week, we recieved a text around the time we said we thought we would be arriving (2pm) saying that our room was not quite ready. I believe we got the text that it was ready with our villa number at about 4pm. We were also able to bypass the check-in desk, which was great since the entrance to the Treehouse Villas is different than the main Saratoga Springs entrance so it did save us some time.

All fine. Makes no difference to me. I was just stating what I've read other posters are saying. Maybe just a coincidence for them. Personally I think it would be exciting to get a text before even leaving our home airport and would prefer it that way!

I did not even though this was a possibility. When/Where exactly do you request the text?

I suspect this might be something connected with DME and/or arriving by plane. i've used it the last 2 trips and had to check in at the desk and never got a txt. I don't arrive by plane or anyway disney might be able to tell we're on our way. We also do early check in, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Since we are from Canada, we do not get our Magic Bands until we arrive. I did choose the text me option when I checked in on-line, will I still get a text with my room number even though I still have to stop at the front desk to pick up our bands?

When you do online checkin, you are given that option.

Back in May, my dd and arrived at MCO, by car, around 5pm-ish. Her friend, arriving by plane, arrived around 5:30. Before her friend landed, I had a text, telling me my room number at POR. I had told them, via online checkin, that I would be arriving around 5ish....got the text around 5:15, if I remember correctly. What was interesting is that when they scanned my MB, they tried to send me to the Pop line....that is where I was originally staying, but had changed to POR about a month prior. I got to the DME check-in podium (since there was that issue)...they told me that yes, they showed me at Pop. I showed them my text from POR, giving me my room number!!!! And the paperwork with the reservation number!!! That number was the same as the Pop one, so I had been told I didn't need to notify DME of the change..it would change automatically in their system. It took them 15 mins to find my POR reservation!!! Even though I already had a room assigned there!
