Getting Rid of a Food Processor?

So last year I bought a food processor at Wal-Mart for cheap. It was supposed to be a Black Friday deal, but it got put out early or something. . .I don't know: it was a Black 'n Decker for less than $20, okay?;)

Well, it sat in a box in the old exercise room (now storage) for about a year. The only thing I ever wanted to use it for was to make hummus. But during the year, whenever I'd get the urge to eat homemade hummus, DH would just say "why don't you call in an order to the greek place?" And I'd order it that way.

Sooo today, DH is off duck and deer hunting. I got the urge for hummus. I looked through my cabinets and found a shelf, removed the George Foreman Grill with the bun warmer that I've used once in 3 years, put it over by the door to go to Goodwill, and then went and got my food processor box.

I got the food processor out, eyeballed it, tried to put the food processor in the space. The main part of the mechanical unit is about an 1/8 of an ich too tall for the cabinet space. And it's HUGE. Like catering size huge. I could make enough hummus for a restaurant with this critter.

I repacked it all up and now it's sitting with the grill waiting to go to Goodwill.

Any ideas what to do with it besides Goodwill? I am considering posting it on Facebook to see if anyone wants it. I thought about handing it off to one of two 1st cousins once removed who are in the honeymoon/engaged stages of couplehood, but don't know if they have storage space. . .

Ideas?

Can't imagine running my kitchen without my food processor! Ask your facebook friends if anyone wants it!

Don't know if it operates where you are, but one of my favorite sites is Freecycle.com. People post things they want to get rid of, and someone usually snaps it up! We got rid of a couple of printers, and other stuff, and picked up an entertainment center, a grill, memory cards, and a few other wonderful things!

Do you have a local soup kitchen? They might appreciate a processor & a grill.

We typically give used things away to friends or family, rather than trying to sell them. If we can't find a friend of family member, then we'll reach further, to acquaintances from church, friends of friends, etc.

Hullo! I hadn't thought of that! I know someone who volunteers at the battered women's shelter! And my dad volunteers at a food bank/community resource (they mostly do food, but also school uniforms and such) Ah-hah!

One of those would likely be happy to get it!

I would love a food processor! Too bad I'm not your neighbor. Oh, well...Starting my 2011 Christmas list: Item #1--food processor!

I'm sure you'll have many offers to take it once you spread the word among your friends.
