Getting refunded

I cancelled a cruise on Dec 29 because that cruise came out with a military discount and was thousands less. The cruise is in July and nowhere near the paid in full deadline (March) so no penalties. I rebooked the cruise with the discount. I noticed they refunded my Disney visa points card first which is fine. Then the next day they refunded multiple payments back to my credit card, but was $5500 short of what I paid. My question is- is this normal? Will I get the $5500 some random day next week or do I need to call and make them aware of the amount missing? Thanks everyone who can help!

Refunds come back in a weird way, always bits and pieces for some reason. I'd wait a few days.
The reason explained to me is each payment you make is refunded as a separate transaction to the original method of payment. So if you made payments on your cruise at different times the money will return separately. The one thing to make sure is if you used gift cards or disney visa rewards that you are checking those methods of payment too

Yes and that is what is happening which is fine. It's just odd that the very first deposit payment I made of $4000 is missing. So I assume there is no rhyme or reason in the order they do the refunds lol.

You can contact them and they can give you a breakdown of how your refund was dispersed. I had a problem recently and didn’t get my refund. I finally found it with my cc company. My card had been comprised months earlier and my refund was stuck in a holding account for some strange reason. The cc numbers didn’t match. I took a lot of effort to find it, but dcl had done their part correctly. My cc messed up. Dcl processed my refund within 3 days of canceling according to the records.

Give it a few days and it will probably pop up. Disney is good about refunds. If you paid in bits and pieces with different cards, it can take a short while for the money to come back, but you'll get it. After dealing with this with a few refunds, I now make an effort to make only one or two big payments using the same card, instead.

I think the order of the refund is in reverse chronological order. So last payment is refunded first, etc.

You know, my Disney card was compromised many months back and they did issue me a new card. Perhaps my initial payment was refunded to the old card. Thank you for this! I'll look into it now with visa.

Wow, what are the odds. Hope it works out. I remember the employee at my credit card company asking for the exact amount of missing refund. Then she said, I can see that exact amount under a different number.

I just called Chase and this IS the problem! The guy saw the funds are still under my old card. Thank you again so much!

I’m happy that my experience was exactly the info you needed. Love the disboards.

now I’m wondering, was the cruise you changed the July southern Caribbean cruise?

Yes it is! I saw the military rate popped up for it and grabbed it. Saved thousands.

Ok, this is really weird because I’m sitting here (in WV) trying to sort out my credit cards so that I can book that exact cruise tomorrow. I have to book 2 rooms and since payment is due in full it’s a hard hit to the Disney visa (Want my Disney reward dollars). It’s a small world indeed. No military discount, my husband is a vet, but doesn’t qualify. But the discount is open to the rest for a little more.

LOL indeed. I noticed they are now offering the GTY rooms on that cruise for thousands less than opening day. Maybe I'll see you on board! Good luck tomorrow and thanks again for your help!

Also, if you used any Future Cruise Credit, they may refund to that, but it’s almost impossible to figure that out.

That is so weird. When I had a card compromised and got a new one, I was concerned about refunds and was told that the old number would remain linked to my account for refunds only - and expected refunds went to my new card.
