I'm getting really frustrated with Turbotax, and DD12 suggested, "Go spend 15 minutes on the DIS."

So here I am.

Amuse me.

I started it a couple of weeks ago, and was just trying to double check and enter It's Deductible stuff... And where the 2005 values for mortgage interest etc were supposed to show (next to the 2004) it said "Not entered." I knew I had entered it, so I pushed the button, it showed the amounts there, but still nothing on the summary page. And there WAS an amount in a row where there shouldn't have been, but when I pushed that button there was no place to enter or change an amount at all.

I ended up starting over from scratch, but then I couldn't find the thumb disk with my 2004 file on it. (Finally found it under the Scrabble box which for some reason is on the floor under my desk.)

It's going OK now.

Is it me or is Turbotax a lot less user friendly this year?

ETA I came to the DIS to be amused, stumbled on the spanking thread, was NOT amused, and went back to the taxes again.

Every year I use it, TT seems to get better, more friendly, easier. JMO.

If you had entered something this year, did you save it before exiting? If not, it will revert back to your previous session.

I thought Turbo Tax was more difficult this year also, much less intuitive than previous versions. I had to go through the investment section about 5 times trying to get my stock sales in there correctly.

I liked it back in the days when they had the little silouhette of the Tax Guy with a bubble coming out of his mouth asking you the questions.

But then I thought --- maybe it isn't that Turbo Tax is getting worse, maybe I'm just getting older and stupider.

:guilty:

I too had problems with Turbo Tax this year that I've never had in years past. Especially, trying to go back to a previous page, it would go back to previous sections of the return. I had to redo several sections because the information somehow didn't carry forward correctly. Turbo Tax was definately not as user friendly this year. I've used Turbo Tax for the last 7-8 years and this was the longest it ever took for me to do my taxes.

I didn't care for TurboTax this year either. Glad to know that it wasn't just me feeling that we. It just seemed hard to jump around from screen-to-screen. Wonder what it will look like next year?
