Ok, so our next trip to see Mickey and his pals is just over 4mths away. This will be my 2nd ever time, and hopefully it will turn out better than the first. The first trip had magical moments, but suffering with sickness the whole time prevented it from being even more magical. Hindsight says that this 60 pounds of extra wieght I have been carrying played a part in that also. So I am determined to lose what I can. I have been having quick success, and was weighing myself every day. I found out this is a big no no.. so tomorrow is wiegh in day and I'm super excited because I've been excersising and eating so well. So I can't wait to update my ticker to show the progress! I originally wanted to drop all 60 by then but decided to set a more reasonable goal. Since I already have 5 pounds behind me, I was thinking another 40 by then. Does this seem reasonable or maybe to high of a goal for this time frame? I had tried to join in other weight loss threads but the pages were massive and I haven't gotten any real responses. I would love to know if anyone is going in this time frame Dec 7-15th, is playing the wieght loss game with me, or just any thing Disney related. Is that too random? LOL, sorry. I'm not a veteran of the boards. Hope to hear from ya1

10 lbs. a month is a lofty goal! It's a lot safer to shoot for 20-25 (you'll hit a plateau of no weight loss at some point, it's just a matter of when and how long).

I personally want to drop 80 (darn babies!!!!), but I'd be happy with 60. I've been sidelined with a heel spur and can't get it fixed until Christmas so I'm hitting the pool and recumbant bike and see how things go from there.

I know I should have been more careful with my weight between kids, but I didn't want to put my body through a 2 year rollercoaster. Now, I'm much bigger than I EVER wished to be.

Best of luck with your self-improvement project! I've found in the past that keeping a food journal really helps. Not necessarily to count calories, but to see your eating habits and use it as an opportunity to change!

Oh, and at one point in my life, I lost 20 lbs just from cutting out soda! (Ouch!)

I think we are all in the same boat. We all want to lose weight for Mickey! I am going in September so I am hitting the gym as much as I can. I want to lose 10-15 more pounds before our big trip but it's getting harder and harder. (I have lost 120lbs so far.) The motto in our house is "we have to look cute for Disney!" We are going to be taking a lot of pictures. I don't want to be disgusted looking at myself! ;) Let's keep each other motivated!

Amazing! Well done!

Though I don't have a trip planned for this year (we went in April) but have potential plans for a family trip next year and DH wants to go for our 5th anniversary (which is also next year... hmmm... can I squeeze him for 2 trips in 1 year?!?!?).

I will be lighter! I'm considering hanging my favorite pre-baby pants on my door so I pass by them each day as motivation!

Let's keep this one going as I agree, the other threads are WAY too big.

I was so excited to change my ticker this morning because I was so sure that I would have lost more weight.. but nope. I mean I just started last Tuesday and by Friday the scale was singing me a song of a five pound loss of wieght.. but that shifty scale was telling me some stories. Because I was very good w/ my eating, and exercising.. over the weekend and it made no difference on the scale. Oh well, my friend who is doing this with me said I should be really excited anyways to lose a solid five pounds in the first week, and also banned me from wieghing myself every week, to now doing it every two weeks. (maybe its because I put too much on that number on the scale) well at any rate, I hope I don't give up..

Thanks to everyone who repsonded, we are all in this together!

Weighing once a week is okay. And your friend is right... 5 lbs is 5 lbs! That's a great start!

Don't be a slave to the scale! You'll know you're dropping weight by how your clothes feel. You'll start to see changes in your face. And most likely, you'll have more energy.

Keep up the great work! You're off to a good start!

Well I need to lose some too but don't plan on starting to try until after the string of birthdays the 1st week of August goes by. No sense in torturing myself intentionally. ;)

Two years ago I did a weight loss program and what I found motivated me WAY more than numbers on a scale was keeping a chart of inches lost. I had a spreadsheet that had neck, chest, waist, hips, right arm, left arm, right thigh, left thigh, right calf, left calf and every week I would measure the same spots and write it down. Since it was in excel I also added in a formula at the end of each row that showed how many inches was lost in each area with a cumulative inches lost at the end so even if I didn't lose weight (because I gained muscle) I could see the concrete changes in the numbers. I did also track weight (of course) but it wasn't the sole thing watched so I always had motivation - even during a plateau.

Thanks girls! Good points.. I dunno just knowing that your out there cheering me on feels good too!

Don't stress over the scale! I really shouldn't be talking though, I weighed myself this morning and thought I would of at least a few ounces! I took a spin class yesterday and sweated my butt off! We did stage 20 of the Tour de France! OMG! :scared: But I did it! Didn't lose anything, but oh well, what are you going to do!

You also have to look at things other than the scale. How do your clothes fit? Are those shorts zipping up a little easier? The button on those capris not digging into your tummy? Those little accomplishments make not losing on the scale not so bad! Like the PP said earlier, take your measurements and check them once a month. You will be amazed on how much you will lose! Hope this helps! :yay:

Yes things are zipping up a bit easier, and I feel like I have more energy allready. Now thing is, is that I'm heading into the pre period week, so I don't think my scale would be my friend during this time.. so I'm going to wait until after the flow to weigh again so I won't get discouraged. I think that at this time the whole clothes fitting measurement may let me down too, so just gotta get through it. Thanks again girls!

:thumbsup2 That is awesome!!!!!!

We are going to disney in December too. I want to lose 50 lbs by then but my total goal is 150 lbs. I lost 115 lbs before my twins and have gained it all back... so depressing. I joined the loosing weight for mickey thread a year and a half ago and didn't stick with it... was doing it for all the wrong reasons but this time I am doing it for ME!!! To feel better... to be more active with my kids!!!! I started my diet on Monday and will weigh weekly and post on here... We can do this together!!! It will not be easy but support from friends will help during the difficult times. Lets do this!!!
Congrats on your 5lbs!!! That is GREAT!!! :cool1:

Good job on the 5 pounds, but I would say congratulations on actually keeping it off the next week. You may not have lost more pounds, but you kept the 5 pounds off.

Also remember losing weight is not really what you are trying to do. You are trying to loose FAT. If you are getting in exercise during this process, some of that fat will be replaced with muscle (which weighs more). So some weeks even when you loose fat, you may not loose weight because you gained muscle. This is where the energy level, clothes fitting, and inches on waist become such an important factor.

Keep a positive attitude, and getting into those exercise routines is so critical. Also remember that eating healthier is more important than how much you are eating. Change your lifestyle and you will keep the pounds off and avoid the rollercoast rides of weight loss. A specific weight is good to aim for, but the goal really isn't to be a certain weight or fit into a certain size clothing for the trip, it is to have energy and not get sick while at Disney. If you only loose 15 pounds, but have the energy and not get sick at Disney, you were successfull. You could work on the rest of the pounds after Disney if needed. Much better to loose the weight successful long term, than drastic weight loose leading to rollercoaster wieght issues.

GOOD LUCK :mickeyjum (enjoy doing Mickey Jumping Jacks)

Very good tips!!! I agree. When I lost my 115# I lost it over 9 months of strict dieting and NO exercise. I know I lost it way to fast and didn't have that life style change but that quick fix mind set!!!

I did this a few years ago, i would say in 2 months time i lost around 15-20 pounds. Let me give a big tip. Try to do power walking about 5 times per week build up to 30-45 mins each time, along with eating right (lay off some of the bad carbs) and the weight will come off so easily. After i had my kids i joined Curves and saw not so great results after a year. It wasnt until i started power walking that i actually started to slim down and go down in pants sizes, i then decided Curves wasnt really doing anything more for me and i quit. Get an Ipod and go to your local track or neighborhood and start walking today. It really does help and i bet you will reach your goal as you have a full 4 months to do it. I feel better physically now then i did when i was younger believe it or not. Also walking gets rids of some of the belly fat. Give it a try.

Thanks everyone! I don't know how to do the paste to copy quotes and respond to specific people, if that makes sense. So yesterday was hard, I feel as though I did horrible with my eating but I did do extra excersise. But I mean the progress feels really slow and its like I just want to look in the mirror and see some results but I am not. But its only been not even 9 full days. I just gotta keep with it. Thanks for all the advice.

Ok so with such fast success to start off with, it was too good to be true. I ended up eating alot in the past few days awaiting for the highly anticipated dropping of the blood, as I affectionately refer to it. Why highly anticipated? Well that might be because I had been trying to get pregnant earlier this month, before we booked our Disney vacation. Why you ask? Because I'm insane, I don't know because I want to be 300 pounds when I give birth to my 3rd child? Yeah I don't know but thankfully here we are, perhaps I lost no wieght this week (but luckily am only wieghing in every other week) but niether am I pregnant, which is good for now. So we are going to work less on that, or more safely on not getting pregnant, and more on losing wieght for the Mouse! Ok so with the dropping of the blood my insane desire for snacking should be subsiding for a few weeks, and we can get on with it. I walked two miles this morning, and am thinking this would be good to do every morning. So thats what I have, whats going on with the others?

Most likely Mother Nature made you hungry! I get the "munchies" a week before and I try to be good, but then I reach a point where I don't care, so I make sure to keep popcorn (the better for you stuff, not the side of heart attack pop), bananas, or milk on hand. Anything to curb without eating an entire bag of chips.

Your thead got me going. I've been so good this past week and know I've dropped a pound or two based on me fitting into some old pants!

Keep going!

Tuesday am is weigh day for me... So I will report in soon!! Great job on the 2 miles!!!

I weighed in yesterday at the gym. I am doing a excercise program there and they weigh, measure and do your body fat. I wasn't to thrilled on getting weighed in. I just didn't feel like I have lost anything. But, I did lose 4lbs. I lost an inch on my bust, waist and hips. I also lost 2% body fat. I was really happy with that. I didn't lose much on the scale but I did lose inches. Oh, by the way, OP, I did weigh 300+lbs when I gave birth to my 2nd child! :sad2: That is when I saw the light! :yay: Off to the gym on that note!!! :cheer2:
