The pop-up has been hibernating during the winter months. The Camp Master (yours truly) had been waiting for winter to subside :surfweb: and had to rely on this board to sustain him.

But today it was sunny and 60 in Birmingham. In two weeks from today we will be at the Fort. So I rolled the camper out today and popped it up and did the annual prep (see what works still, what didn't, and scrape the mold out of the fridge :rotfl: just kidding). I hitched her up and took her down to the gas station to get the tire pressure up (in the TV too) and I have to admit, it felt good to be towing again! :yay:

So I am already checking the movie thread for this month and trying not to hyper-plan this next trip. I'm also looking at the Weather Channel dot com website on the 10-day forecast to see what things are lookin' like. I got the spring training baseball schedule for the week. I got the EMH schedule for the parks. I got the kids saving their allowance to buy their own souvenirs :dance3: ,

I'm getting excited - can you tell? Be there in two weeks! Look for the Jayco Highwall in Loop 900

If you see someone who looks just like me at the campfire be sure to say Howdy.

Ed we come in on the 20th so look for us too. I hope we'll get 900 loop as that is my fave because of the closeness to the Meadow and movie. I'll be in a red camper that says Hobbi on front.

We pickup yhe new TT today it is sitting at a camp site we are going to stay in it tonight to test everything and next week Disney............. We are going to take lot's of Pic's so if you need Pic's of any thing just post them on this site.

Bama Ed,
Congrats on the upcoming trip ! I too am in the process of preparing our trailer for the up coming camping season, with the big trip to the Fort coming in July and August. We are pumped !! :woohoo: I love this time of year. So many fun trips and things to do as a family. Happy planning to ya !! :yay:

Wow, all the Alabama folks coming out to play!! I won't be at the Fort till October, but I'm really itching for a camping trip. I'll probably have to wait till April cause the March Scouting trip is a week bicycling. (I only do fixed site camping). The January trip was snow skiing, and staying in a house, and the Feb trip, they stayed in a lodge somewhere. I'm eager to pull the tent out and sit in my chair under the stars somewhere doing a whole lot of nothing for a weekend :-)

Another "HEY!" from Alabama!

We can't handle the Spring Break crowds, so we're not going down until April 20, but we'll be there for 10 days and can't wait!

DH and DS18 will be apartment hunting in Winter Park for this fall when DS starts college. DD16 and I will be using our AP's for the last time :sad1:

Have a great trip Bama Ed and all you other Bama people!

Hey Carol,

Where do you camp around home? We love Desoto State park in Fort Payne. Any other good places around north Alabama? (We have a pop up). BTW, we have relatives in Madison! (uncles, aunts, cousins, etc.)

Thanks!

Lisa

We go to Monte Sano, Buck's Pocket, Lake Guntersville, and then other various Scout Camps in the area (Camp Jackson in Scottsboro, Camp Comer, Camp Westmoreland, etc.)

Hey Carol - I have two boys in Scouting here in Birmingham too and we camped at Jackson back in November (beautiful view from the Pinnacle with the leaves and the river and all). My older one and myself will be going to Philmont this summer! ;)

With regards to what Praise2Him from Jacksonville says, I wish we could avoid spring break and crowds but we are stuck in that school calendar cycle for the foreseeable future  . We also have a quick trip planned right before Christmas (4 nights) to try to get in to see the decorations but out before the crowds get there.

JPG, you get the benefit of living in LA and being close to the beach but I dunno if I could handle July or August even in my pop-up with A/C! :lmao: Obviously with my signature name I'm a big Crimson Tider (don't know about all ya'll but if you are too, great, if not, well, I'm sure you're not bad people, just terribly misguieded... ).

Now if I could just get AuburnJen92 to give me a big "Roll Tide", we'd be set!

Won't be long now till I'm at the Meadow TP in the rockin' chair sippin' a cold Silver Bullet (that's a Diet Coke for me) :rolleyes1

Another Hey from a neighbor! We will be down there the same time you are Bama_Ed. We're there the 17th-24th but we will be tent camping hopefully in the 1500 loop.

Carol - Have you camped at Dismals Canyon? There's a lot of history there and one of our favorite places to tent camp.

Big War Eagle Here!!! :-)

Nope never been to Dismals Canyon. Will have to check it out.

Wow ! How about all us Alabama folks.... Bama Ed, we know what you mean about the school schedule life, hence us going in the summer. We just take the heat and enjoy Disney ! And yes, living down south has its advantages this time of year. We love to camp on the river and go skiing, fishing, swimming, etc...And, as far as being a Bama fan.........I got three words for ya...Roll Tide Roll !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like we are going to have to work on Carol and AuburnJen...:lmao: :stir:

Well, I guess I can say both...Roll Tide and War Eagle!

I attended Bama for 2 years, but my DH graduated from Auburn. He's pretty much converted me in the past 24 years to an Auburn fan, but I still like Alabama too.

Oh, and since I graduated from JSU, I have to say...Go Gamecocks!

(We homeschool, so we can go to WDW any time we want and avoid the heat and crowds...yay for homeschooling!):cheer2:

My oldest DS is also attending JSU. He's a Junior majoring in Business.

Thanks for the suggestions for other campgrounds. We've considered Lake Guntersville. Is it nice? Never heard of the others, but will check them out!

I hope you enjoy Philmont. Our troop did a trek there last summer. Both of my boys are out of Scouting, (one Eagle, one Life). But I still enjoy the camping, so resigned as committee chairman, but stayed on as general committee member. Went to National Jamboree on Boating Staff in '05 and I'm hoping to return in '10. (Just got an invite for boating staff for the 07 World Jamboree!! Tempting, but there's just no way.)

I'm glad you enjoyed Jackson!! Isn't the Pinnacle amazing!! I've repelled off of the bluff on the Pinnacle. I've got a picture somewhere. It was in September when all the leaves were orange, red, and gold. Amazing view!!!

YIS,
