Getting Ready for our July Trips to the World

Small victory for me today....

So I go to my physical and my Doc actually LISTNED To me! I go in tomorrow morning for a complete blood panel! He's also going to refer me to a nutritionist to find out where the kinks are in my diet. He also said if any of my tests come back with even a leaning towards PCOS, he will refer me to an edocronologist to work on getting it treated! I have never looked forward to seeing the labpires so much in my life as I am for tomorrow morning. So my plan is lab first then gym for a good solid work out.

Good luck this morning. I hope everything works out well for you :) Sometimes it just takes them sooooo long to figure stuff out.

:cheer2: Good luck tomorrow!

Well the last couple of days I have done a walk/jog thing but today after work the temp was 100F with a heat index of 105F so I did the elliptical, upper body with free weights, and abs in the garage. I'm not sure if I sweated so much because of the intensity of my workout or cuz it was hot in the garage but it made feel like I accomplished something! I start working 2nd shift in a couple of weeks so I'll be able to workout early in the day before the heat becomes unbearable. I'm contemplating purchasing a family pool pass for the post pool so that DD can get some more exercise in and I can get some sun so that I don't have to coordinate my WDW wardrobe with my inevitable sunburn. Unfortunately, the Army installation that I live on is very civilian-centric and I would have to shell out $140 for a two month pass. Don't mind spending money (hello! Disney) just don't like paying for something that has been free the last 20yrs.

I live in a town where the pools are free, you just have to show your water bill or elec bill at the beginning of the season and they give you a pool tag that you show upon return. Having said that if they suddenly start to charge for it, I won't be paying! It's not that worth it to me. Btw...Disney says 'hello' back:rotfl2::rotfl2:

So I started walking with my friend, now that it's nice out. Got in 45 minutes yesterday and we're going again this morning.

It's been a great week here. For some reason I was dying for pizza, so I finally caved last night and that is what we had for dinner. I didn't do badly and I did track it. While it did put me over on my fat grams and carbs for the day, overall calories I was still well within my range. So far I've made it through my dad's bd and my son's managing to mostly avoid the cakes except for a bite of each. My birthday is on Saturday and I will be eating cake LOL. Since we have so many occasions right now, that was my plan. Avoid it on everyone else's birthday and eat it on mine.

And it's Wednesday. So I weighed myself and I lost another 11 lbs. I've also lost 5 inches off my waist, which is the only measurement I've been tracking. So now I've reached one goal. I have to set another. I started at 232 and now I am 211. I'd like to see 199 before we go on vacation. If I make that way before, I'll set another goal.

Good luck!! It is terrible to say, you almost hope the results are abnormal - lol, but I did the same thing a year ago. Unfortunately(?) my labs came back fine. Keep us posted!

Wow that is hot! Sweating is good, you probably burned off even more calories with the heat!Con

Congratulations on the great loss! I think it is much better to set smaller goals along the way, it is very motivating when you reach one!

I have lost 4 pounds so far, 6 more to go for my goal weight. The weekends have been very busy, so the exercise does not happen. I have good and bad days with the food - generally related to outside activities. School is done next week, and that will help a LOT! We have another busy weekend ahead, but I am trying to hit the gym every day this week. We have been able to swim - hopefully the weather will cooperate so I can add that to my workout at the gym.

Hey everyone!

Well I'm weirdly motivated at the moment, have been booking classes for late afternoon as school is quiet as most of my students are on exam leave so I've been able to leave bang on the bell. That'll change next week when they are all back. Anyway was happy with Monday's weigh in - 2.5 lb off! And have done 3 spin classes and a Bodyjam class this week and it's only Wednesday!! Yeay! I am hoping to get to Circuit training tomorrow and Boot camp on Saturday morning but we'll see. Having friends over for dinner on Saturday then hubby had booked a surprise family night away on Sunday as I have Monday off work so trying to be angellic all week so that we can have nice food and a little vino at the weekend!

As for everyone else

Disneywatcher - I'm not overly worried about the strikes now, although we are on a Virgin flight it is actually part of a package deal booked through Thomas Cook and my friend who's the travel agent who booked it has confirmed that if there was a strike Thomas Cook would get us on another flight!! :cheer2: And good luck with your tests!

Gray - well done at getting back to WW. Sometimes you just need a something to kick start it. I think reporting in here is making me less likely to reach for the cake or miss a workout!

Zoomama - well done with the hot workout! It's just as well I don't live somewhere hot, heat just sends me running for the nearest cold beer, definitely not to the gym!!

Carrie - 11lbs and 5 inches is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done!!

Tinkerbell - 4lbs is still great and I know what you mean about life getting in the way. My hubby working shifts gets in my way alot as if he's backshift I pick the little guy up on my way home then have to spend the evening in the house whilst he's in bed! I could do my Zumba DVDs but I never do!!

Well good luck for the rest of this week ladies!

mo x

That's great! This weekend (both days) is my dd's dance recital and Saturday is my birthday. I'm totally not worrying about anything this weekend, because I'm going to have to feed a bunch of family that is coming for (mostly) dd's dance recital. We'll probably bbq. I'll try to stick to chicken and salad. If I can't, I can't.

Two things are helping me tremendously. One is that my DH is losing with me, so we don't really have any junk in the house. Luckily neither of my kids were big sweets eaters. They are salty-stuff eaters. I think they are better off that way, for now anyway.

The other thing is my friend is all about walking lately, so between her and my wii fit I'm getting a lot more exercise than I have gotten in years. We walked an hour today. It was 80 something degrees today, but I heard on the radio that at 11 a.m. this morning the 'real feel' temp (whatever that actually is) was the equivilant of over 90. Which means it was humid. Which made it feel like I was in FL. The fact that we have severe thunderstorm warnings in effect right now just makes it seem even more like FL :rotfl2:

That is wonderful that the doc listened and is sending you for some tests. Hope all goes well.

Nice job reaching your goal. 11 lbs and 5 inches is fantastic.

Nice job on the lose. I think most normal people have good and bad food days.

Awesome job with the workouts.

No workout today.:sad1: A monster headache this afternoon and a slight case of the cooties/willies thanks to a long day at work. :scared1:

Zooma, that really sucks! We have 2 pools on our post and all you have to do is show your ID card...one gym even has morning water aerobics classes (it's Wives only from 9 am till 3pm unless your DH is with you then he can work out with you). I know it's a jaunt but have you tried going to the pool @ Belvoir? It ~might~ be free (I say might because I haven't been there yet when I go visit my mom...her pool is like 500 dollars for the year :scared1:)
Good luck this morning. I hope everything works out well for you :) Sometimes it just takes them sooooo long to figure stuff out.

Congrats on the 11lbs and 5 inches! That's AWESOME! I love ordering the "healthy" pizza from Pizza Hut although when I call them to order it they ask me if I SERIOUSLY want no cheese on my pizza :confused3

No workout today.:sad1: A monster headache this afternoon and a slight case of the cooties/willies thanks to a long day at work. :scared1:

I hope you feel better soon ZooMama

I went in this morning and they took 11 vials of blood :scared1: I now have a small bruise on my arm and the waiting game has begun. Hypothyroid runs in my family (and I have some of those symptoms such as sensitive to hot/cold, headaches often and exhausted all the time) but I also have signs from PCOS (facial hair, bad acne, irregular cycles, skin tags, and rapid weight gain). Somewhere back in the back of my head I'm hoping they find something that can give me a clue as to why my body is literally holding onto the fat on it.

I went to spin class after the blood draw like I said I would though and did about 13 minutes on the treadmill for a grand total of 677 calories burned  Not my best day but hey I will take it for what it's worth.

Well... I just need some moral support.

After last week's excitement on losing 2+ pounds, I regained over half of it. I realize that last week's weight could be a fluke, but it still kind of stinks, you know? And this week has been kind of salt-heavy (water retention!) foods.

So, bummer. I really wanted to lose 5lbs by Disney but I lose weight so SO slowly that I think it's probably out of reach. (Which is part of why I'm convinced I have PCOS - I eat carefully, exercise appropriately and my weight doesn't change... well, right now, exercising is hard)

And today is a bad leg day. I have been holding steady, though not improving, up until today and I just... hurt. I can't get comfortable and couldn't get comfortable overnight, so my sleeping is a little out of whack.

I also have the added stress of family dynamics for the trip with regards to wheelchair use/needs, because of the muscle tears in my leg.

My mom: absolutely convinced I will be in one the whole time.
My husband: absolutely convinced I will not use one at all
My brother: doesn't understand why I can't do certain things (he's 32, btw)
Me: hates wheelchairs because I feel like a fraud (always temp disabilities) but I hurt and I limp... I'm 11 weeks since the initial injury. Disney is 39 days away, so I don't see that much recovery coming that fast.

So, grump. I feel fat; I hurt.

Thanks for letting me vent, all!! :goodvibes

Honestly my only motivation at all is that I don't want my dd to get fat. Last summer we noticed her getting a tiny bit of a belly. So out went the soda and crap and in came the fruit and the water. I didn't give a reason other than mommy and daddy needed to lose weight, so we were going to have healthier food in the house. I do swap out no sugar added ice pops and fruit and baked chips and 100 cal snacks for the other stuff. And I pretty much have the whole household under a soda ban. We did that last summer and everyone felt much better by September.

They can drink it if we are out. Maybe dd can have one, otherwise I prefer her to have water or some kind of juice or something else. Depends what the options are. While we are on vacation if she drinks all her water for the day, she can have a soda with dinner.

Last time we went in July she wasn't drinking enough water or powerade and got really really sick from the heat. At the time, she mostly only drank apple juice. It wasn't enough. We ended up in First aid in Epcot 2x, possibly 3. They kept giving us packs of saltines and bottles of powerade for her to drink. The let her rest there and made sure she was cooled off, but I was a nervious wreck. We left there our first stop was to get her a hat. I think we kind of just called it a day after that, because we just wanted to let her rest and see how the night went.

Moral to the story: Don't spend hot hot hot days in the sun drinking soda. It doesn't work well.

Once I lose the 83 lbs I have left to get to back my goal weight and can go to WW for free, I'll do it with you....it may take me a while though:rotfl::rotfl:

I hear you! I def. don't want my daughter to live life like me ... overweight since 4th grade. Missing out on so many things ... I want her to be healthy!!! I do find when I am being 'bad' I am letting the kids be bad too ... we don't do soda or really any liquid calories aside from milk, but I can be bad with the sweets when *I* want them. I try to be a good role model as best as I can ... but it is hard!

Gray~ YOU CAN DO IT! We all have faith in you! Lately I find myself looking at things before I put them in my mouth and asking myself "Do I Want you or NEED you?" If it's just a want then I put it down and grab some water then after I drink about 2 glasses down if I'm still hungry I go for something a little more healthy.

Thank you! Day two so far and going well ... I can do so well but then a little voice tells me to just eat whatever I want ... I need to cut that little voice loose!

Small victory for me today....

Thanks :) Yeah that is crazy for the pool! We actually go to the YMCA pool because it is nicer than the post one ... our YMCA one has great kiddie areas and a splash pad! Love it!

So I went to the meeting on Wednesday and it went well ... gained around 3.1 pounds from what my wii fit said beginning of May ...

My goals are:
- NO JUNK until we get to Disney! Healthy foods and all my WWer good health guidelines daily!
- exercise each week ...
- hoping for 2 pounds loss each week or 8 lbs by Disney!

Hang in there! Believe me - I know it is tough. My weight has been stuck too and it is frustrating. I recently read something though that said, "don't focus on the weight loss, focus on the healthy habits". So that is what I am trying to do - and keep remembering, that wheelchair or not - Disney is only 39 days away!!!

No workout today.:sad1: A monster headache this afternoon and a slight case of the cooties/willies thanks to a long day at work. :scared1:

Hopefully you will get some news that there is something that can be "fixed". Good job on the calorie burn!!

I have gone to the gym every day and my eating has been ok. But, I have had a LOT of stress this week so that is what I am blaming my lack of weight loss on. Hopefully next week will be better. I feel stuck in a rut right now.

I have worked out for 5 days straight and will probably go for a run tonight. Eating has been good, but could be better.

No workout today.:sad1: A monster headache this afternoon and a slight case of the cooties/willies thanks to a long day at work. :scared1:

I can sympathize with the headaches. Hope you are feeling better today.

Hang in there!!! I know how tough it is when you are trying and are not seeing the results you think you should be seeing. Just try to stay positive and think of the good/happy things.

Thanks, ladies! I appreciate someone telling me what I already know - :rotfl: - it's just nice to hear it from an outside source!

The good, of course, is that I am allowed to and have been exercising regularly. 5 days a week, 30 minutes at a time. It's not super hardcore, but it does get my heart rate up and me sweating, so it's definitely having an impact!

I hate that my weight fluctuates, but I did make a decision YEARS ago to make exercise a priority, because it has a huge amount of benefits for my entire life. Heck, while I've regained most of what I've lost... I'm still 2 pants sizes smaller than I was back then. Even accounting for vanity sizing! ;)

My leg pain will eventually go away.

I AM going on vacation in 39 days!!

Thank you. :goodvibes

It was a cool and breezy 88F this afternoon so I went for a walk/jog after work. Felt really good too!:cool1: Didn't splash random stranger/patient's blood on my neck today so no work related cooties/willies!:scared: My eating has been good. I am trying to eat more fruits and veggies. Of course, right now I'm typing with one hand cuz I'm eating a lime popsicle! That counts right?!:lmao:

I have worked out for 5 days straight and will probably go for a run tonight. Eating has been good, but could be better.

:thumbsup2 Good job on your daily exercise!!!!

Thank you. :goodvibes

You are quite welcome - and you are right, the support helps a lot.

I think popsicles are a great treat!

:goodvibes
SARHAB~ KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! Positive attitude first, then good eating habits followed by exercise. If you can't get up, Shadowbox! It will get your heart rate going and help you burn calories and you can do it sitting down! Either way though, you are going to Disney SOON!

Good for you and setting your goals up! If you want something sweet, try a Skinny Cow ice cream bar (bad name, really good ice cream :rotfl:) or a popcicle, you can get them in sugar free too! Ohh or Jello...there is always room for jello!

Hope you feel better....

Good luck!!!

I think I have to call my Doc and find out when my blood work results will come in (or if they already have) and see if anything is up also if there is anything what's our next step from there.

I have worked out for 5 days straight and will probably go for a run tonight. Eating has been good, but could be better.

I can sympathize with the headaches. Hope you are feeling better today.

Yikes!!! 1 vials and you still went to spin class. Good for you.

Hang in there!!! I know how tough it is when you are trying and are not seeing the results you think you should be seeing. Just try to stay positive and think of the good/happy things.

Those are great goals and all are doable.
Good work on working out all 5 days this past week!
I was just glad that the labpire had an easy time finding my veins...before I started drinking all the water I do now, they had a hard time finding them but it was easy for her this time. I did grab breakfast @ Burger King before I went to work out though (ham and cheese crossiant minus the cheese and a medium coffee with cream)

MMMMM Popsicle!n Good work on the walk/jog~

So today I went to the gym all psyched to do a spin class but I missed the hourly care sign that showed the change of hours for the gym's care...no more Monday's/Friday's there anymore. So I called a friend up and she watched Gillian for a while so I could do spin and then a Core training class...55 minutes for spin and 30 for Core! I then came home and booked Gillian at another hourly care location from 9am till 11am on Monday and Friday for the next few weeks.

Food wise, I went to Olive Garden for dinner yesterday and made poor choices but I am happy to say I did NOT eat everything on my plates and came home with doggy bags. Today was a MUCH better day for me (so far). I started out with a bowl of Multi-grain cheerios and sliced apples, went to work out, came home and had a pure protein shake and for lunch I had one of the adult lunchable's with a ham and cheese sandwich, 100 calorie snack mix and a temptation's pudding, apple slices and sliced bell peppers, then I had another nutrigrain bar not long ago. I do know I have about 850 calories left to eat today (but I don't have to eat all of them).

Here are my goals for the time before I drive to my Mom's house (July 10th)

More fresh fruit and veggies
More water
Keep up the exercise
Loose either 2 inches off my hips or 5lbs (which ever comes first)

Yes I do like the skinny cow ice creams! I like the little cups of it :) perfect size and kind of like ben and jerrys flavors! And yes we do popsicles or fudgesicles too :)

Great goals!!!! It's so easy now to get the F&V, with it being summer! I went to publix and bought TONS of fruit on the first of June and we are almost out... my kids love it too!!!

So day three back on weight watchers! Going well! I have met all my good health guidelines and have stayed within my points (also eating my activity points, but no weeklies)

Have not felt deprived at all ... exercise going well ... I need to remember how good it feels to be making good choices!!!! And I need to remember how horrible I felt making the bad ones ...

Day by day for now ... 3 days to weigh in!

Well, I've turned a corner with my recovery! I think that the minor muscle tear is no longer causing me real pain! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Did I mention: :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: ?

YAY! Walking is still hard and still painful... but not as painful. Sitting is getting easier! It's this HUGE weight off my shoulders...

And, as a result, I've been able to increase my exercise bike time by a couple of minutes without trouble!

I readjusted my caloric intake down a bit; maybe that will help me lose weight faster. It's a fine line between "feeling deprived" and "not enough calorie deprivation" for me. Oh well!
