has anyone had trouble transfering points to another DVC member. I don't know best way, if there is a best way to get paid. Who trust who.

Most have reported getting full payment prior to transfer. A few have paid 50% prior and 50% immediately after the transfer. With the second method, both parties are at risk for 1/2 of the transaction.

When I transfered points to another member he sent me the money first via Paypal...As soon as I saw the $$$ was there I transfered the points via a three way call with MS.

The whole process took about 15 minutes, and we were both very happy. :cool1:

I have had points transferred to me several times. I have always paid in full first, but I have always had an email agreement first. Just make sure you are in goo communication with the person you get the points from.

Good luck,

My first point transfer was this past week. I transferred points and got a check in the mail a few days later. Maybe I'm a very trusting person, but so far the people I've transferred points to have been around the boards for years. So please, please, please continue to be honest people. It makes life easier for all of us.

I bought points a few months ago for the first time. I wasn't sure what was the best way to do this. I was willing to send the check and wait until it cleared but I called and talked to the person I was buying from. When you talk to someone you get a better sense of what kind of person they are. I guess we both just trusted each other. I told her I was putting the check in the mail and she went ahead the next morning and put the points in my account. She got her check a couple days later. Everything went smooth as we were both honest people. Hopefully everyone would be that honest!

I just had points transfered into my account this week.

I offered to pay via paypal before the transfer went through, but the other member preferred for me to pay with a check. I offered to send the check first, but she said she wanted to do the transfer first and then have me send the check.

So, she did the transfer, and I sent the check. :thumbsup2

I've also transferred points into another member's account and she offered to pay in full upfront. Once the payment went through via Paypal, I called MS and transferred the points.

Two transfer transactions, Two great outcomes :cool1:

Trust is a huge factor when it comes to both transferring and renting. I've rented points to 7 different people (we're going on a cruise :cheer2: ) and I've done two transfers. You HAVE to trust the person you're working with! And make sure you lay your terms out clearly and early.

You need to do what feels comfortable for you. If you only feel comfortable with getting the payment first, then only transfer to someone who is willing to pay first.

I have transferred to someone once before and I got payment in full first. We talked on the phone while she was doing the paypal transfer and as soon as it was done we disconnected and I called MS to transfer. Then I called her back right away and told her they were there, you can see them in your account right away, or at least I could see they were gone from my account right away.

I have had the points transferred into my account first then saw they were there and sent a check .I have also paid 1st then they transferred them in . people can see I have been on the boards for 5 years and I am not going anywhere. I would NEVER rip someone off .

I have had points transferred to my account 3 times. Two times I paid up front as the cost was minimal (approx. $100 each time). At least I felt it was minimal, so I was willing to take the risk. The third time was about $500, so I offered to pay half up front and half upon verification that the points had been transferred. Both ways worked well. The two smaller transactions, I paid via paypal, and the larger transaction I paid via moneyorder. I left the form of payment up to the person I was getting the points from as I figured they were doing me a huge favor by transfering me the points in the first place so they should get to make the decision on which form of payment was most convenient for them.

I've transferred points in twice, with excellent results!

1st time, I paid after points were moved to my account.

2nd time, 1 paid the seller first.

Will only use PayPal & Credit Card & document w/emails in case of potential problem. My understanding is that I could then dispute the charge if points weren't valid.

Do worry what would happen to point status (even if they're sitting in my account) if original member/owner reneged on payments/dues to DVC.
