Hi all,

We are headed to the cabins for our first WDW trip in more than 10 years. I'm making lists & checking them and organizing them and printing touring plans and moving seats in the car and all that fun stuff.

We're supposed to leave Saturday morning but they are predicting SNOW (in North Carolina!) so we're going to watch the weather and prepare to get on the road Friday if necessary, to get far enough south to miss the frozen stuff.

Of course, when they predict snow here it usually means we won't get any. And when they don't we get several inches!

Some last minute questions...

They sell laundry detergent at the campground stores right? Probably expensive I'm guessing...

Normally when we check in at a hotel, I run in to get the keys and the rest of the fam stays in the car. Since Disney wants fingerprints for everyone for the park tickets, do they do this at check in? So everyone needs to come in?

Boats: Several web sites say there are separate boat routes for FW to MK and WL to MK, but I just heard that there is one boat route that goes MK->WL->FW or vice-versa. This means it might take longer but hopefully also means boats come sooner.

Is there still a boat from Fort Wilderness to the Contemporary (and WL)? I'm relying on this for a Chef Mickey's breakfast.

Also, if you are renting a cart from Kenny (or anyone, really) be sure to call and confirm before your trip. I called him this week -- he returned my call promptly but couldn't find the information about my reservation. He said he remembered talking to me but didn't have the info.

Anyways, he set me up with a new reservation, same rate & everything. But I'm glad I called or there would have been quite a bit of confusion and delay.

Thanks to everyone here for all the tips and information.

I was just wandering the Fort this past weekend.

There is still a dedicated boat that goes directly to MK from the Fort.

However, at this time, one of the boats is the large boat and one of them is a small boat. They load on the left side of the Fort Wilderness dock. (Normally there are two large boats.) So if there is a long line and the small boat arrives, not everyone may board. So that is why it will take a bit longer. Also, the small boat is not wheelchair/ECV accessible.

Yes, there is a small boat that goes in a loop, FtW, WL, Contemporary. It loads from the right side of the Fort Wilderness dock.

They get your fingerprints the first time you use your "Key to the World" cards going into a park, not at the hotel. So everyone doesn't need to go in when you check in. However, my kids liked seeing the little lobby. And being Disney, they have a little TV with cartoons on in the corner. And rocking chairs on the porch, fireplace, etc. It's a tiny little building/lobby, so it's not like they will get lost.
They do sell detergent - I believe there is a vending machine in the laundry areas. But I'd really recommend going to Wally world or Target and buying a few travel packs of Tide - they have them in the travel size section. Or just buy a box of those purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets and throw a few of those in a ziploc. Much cheaper.
Have fun!

I think the finger prints is a hidden agenda goverment ploy thingy,,
(don't trust them :cool2:)

I will 2nd using the Purex 3 in 1 sheets. Convienent and do not take up any space.
Before these, I used a bunch of travel size bottles (for shampoo ect). One bottle held 2 loads worth of ultra liquid laundry detergent. I would put enough for 1 load in, mark the bottle with a sharpie and then put the amount for the 2nd load in. Did the same with softener if I did not have any dryer sheets.

Also pack a bunch of quarters. Saves trying to track them down.
Not sure how much the machines take.

Have a great trip!!

The machines take 8 quarters per load...8 for the washer and 8 for the dryer. And they don't like the Canadian quarters you sometimes get from the change machines in the laundry rooms. Ice machines also take 8 quarters, but you have to put two in each open slot....and hold the bag tight when the ice drops.

Strange thing Frank, no one took my prints during our last visit. And no one asked me to put my finger in the machine at any park. First time that has happened...or not happened. :confused3

Thank you WOW those sound great for traveling, I will be checking out my local Wally-world....

You put them in with the wash, but you also put them in the dryer. They come in a small flat box, refills for the box are also available.
