Getting on DME 8 hours after flight arrival?

In early July I'm taking a late Thursday flight, arriving into MCO about 12:15 am on Friday. I didn't really want to add another day to my reservation at Bay Lake, so I decided to just crash at the Hyatt Regency at MCO. Is there any issue with me rolling up to DME 8 or so hours after my plane landed? I figured there shouldn't be, after all planes get delayed all the time. I'll still be arriving on the day I told them.

No . I have read reports of people who do this on the Disboards. They give info for a flight arriving that morning. Just collect any check bags and don't use the yellow luggage tags. It is the return trip that you have a reserved bus time. As you said flights can be late and also some people stop to eat before heading to MDE.

You can just list an arrival flight number closer in time to when you will be there if it makes you feel better about it.

Just call the DME number and tell them what you plan to do. We did this in November and didn't have to give a fake flight. The CM didn't even care what time we planned to head down to DME.
