we leave 10-12 thru 19 and just for the fun of it I checked our dates on the Disney website and the only resorts that came up were 2 of the all stars

now Im really panicking that all the dis resorts are booked solid!!!

oh nooooo

I hope Im just jumping to conclusions!!!

We will be there 10/15-23 and we have been afraid of the same thing. I know from the thread about the MNSSHP on 10/17 that there are LOTS of DISers planning to be there then. I'm thinking that lots of people who whose vacations had to be rescheduled due to the hurricaines will be choosing some of our dates. Also, the Food and Wine Festival is just getting warmed up good. We've been there during really busy times before (between Christmas and New Years) and can do it again, but that's not what we had planned when we chose our dates. I am sure that we'll have fun no matter what. A busy day at WDW is better than a busy day at work any day!

I heard there is a big computer convention starting I think on Sunday Oct 17. That maybe tying up the hotels.

I think I read on another thread that Disney has added hours to the park schedules in October because of increased attendence.

Please recheck the official disney site - you may HAVE changes that affect you!

Several airlines allowed travelers to change plans due to hurricanes with travel as late as Oct. 18th. I think a lot of hurricane post-poners are going to be there with us, as well as everyone who was already planning on being there.
Its going to be busy! BUT...that just means put your plans into action. Most people go without a plan. Not us, comrades! GET THERE EARLY!

You have to understand that people use the Disney hotels for business as well (conventions, conferences, etc). I would guess the majority of crowds come from off-site, not on WDW property.

also, the golf tournament lands in there sometime....we will be there 9th-17th...searching 11th-17th, nothing but all-stars. however, 11th-16th everything but BC/YC is available.

well, i'm a little nervous too -

we're going to the mnsshp on the 14th; no PS available at CP - but someone posted earlier they had their choice of PS for this weekend (oct. 8-10) at CP

keeping fingers crossed & wishing for pixie dust!

After looking at the site with the MGM wait times a year ago...Im getting alittle nervous too about the waits......I guess we will just have good attitudes and go in with the idea that we may have to wait and make the best of it. A wait at Disney is much better than sitting on your couch at home anytime!:wave2:

I'd rather be in line for Space than at work. Even if it's crowded, you'll have a good time.

listed in Oct are Sundays, so I am not going to stress over line wait times. I figure If I can get fast passes for those busy rides it will all be ok!

While the crowd levels are slightly elevated during this time of year, I would not use the WDW site and vacation/hotel room planning page as an indication of crowds. The WDW site is not showing you the number of rooms available on the entire WDW site. What the website is showing you is what resort in a particular resort class(Value, Moderate, Deluxe, etc.) has rooms available for a particular time frame. So, in your case, there may be 100 available rooms in each of the All Star resorts.

The website, despite selecting "Any Resort" for the search criteria, displays the "cheapest" available resorts/rooms first. I just tried this for January(a known low crowd season) and only two All Star Resorts appeared. I then forced it to show me Moderate resorts and it showed me two more selections. I did the same thing for each resort class and was able to get rooms in each of WDW's resorts. So, upon the initial search, one would think that WDW was "EXTREMELY" crowded, when in fact it is not. There may be oodles of rooms available in each available resort.

Hope This Helps,

I have a friend who is a utilities worker who is staying at Pop Century and being bussed 2 hours away for utility work. Much of the area is still without power, and since Disney hotels have power, many people are staying there for various reasons. We just returned yesterday and the parks were not at all crowded.

We went last year during the golf tournament and I was expecting big crowds. I was pleasantly surprised - it wasn't that bad in the parks! I'd go back myself if there were any good FL residents rates in October. We loved MNSSHP!!

Great website Matt,

Do you have links to other park wait times?

I have a feeling it will be more crowded than usual during this time this year because of many reschedules due to the hurricanes.

HOWEVER, keep in mind that for the past several years October is a very popular month for conventions on WDW property. I was told by a CM some years ago this is one of the reasons October went from value to regular season. Many of the guests staying in the resorts may not be at the parks.

Be prepared for some business functions/parties that may be going on depending on what resort you're staying at.

I am at BWV right now, and I have to say that the parks are much more crowded this year than they were this time last year.
We went to EPCOT today...at noontime there was a 65 minute wait for test track and the FastPass return time was already at 6:55pm!! AK was also very crowded this past MOnday and MK was just as crowded on Tuesday.
Thank goodness we have our DVC and know we are coming back again soon.....makes missing some of those rides easier to bare!!

Yup, I already checked - on Saturday nights the MK is staying open until 11PM after the first weekend. I was already planning on going to the MK that night with the 10PM posted time, but 11PM is even better, especially since they have also added a 11PM spectromagic as well.

N.E.D.

I am getting mixed signals about the crowds for the week we will be there (third week). The hours for the MK were just increased for the Saturday but the other days are still the same. Last night I called to add a PS for the Crystal Palace and was given MANY options to choose from. I really thought I would have no luck since it is about two weeks out. Also, most people now are saying the crowds are good. So who knows what will happen. We will be prepared for crowds and if its less, that will be great. Regardless, we are going to WDW and we are so excited!! :bounce: :bounce:
