Getting Into Garden Grove Character Breakfast?

What is the situation upon showing up for the weekend character breakfast at the Garden Grove at the Swan hotel? They only accept walk-ups and I'm just wondering how long we'd be waiting, if there's a better time to go than others, or if it's just so crazy to be even worth trying. We'd be there Sunday the 26th. Hoping that since it's out of the way not many people know about it... but what's everyone's experience with this before?

I will be interested to hear other responses on this as well. We plan to have breakfast there on our August trip.

I must say, I kind of like that there is no ADR needed. If we are up early, we can go early. If we sleep in a bit, we will go a little later. Its rather nice not to be tied to a specific reservation time.

Although it's been a while, whenever we've had breakfast on the weekends here I never remember waiting very long at all. I'm sure if that's changed a lot they would take ADRs. Remember they aren't on the DDP so that would cut down on any wait time as well. You can probably even call directly from your resort before heading over there to find out if there is a wait and how long. (and they serve a "little later" than most of the breakfasts until 11:30)

Can't speak to breakfast but we walked up for the dinner buffet (with characters) on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend in 2011 and there were maybe 8 families there. I think Pluto and Goofy were getting bored, lol.

I am liking the sound of this!!

Also just discovered the character breakfast at the Downtown Disney Hilton on Sundays... does anyone know if that one is reservationless, as well?

No, there are no reservations for the Hilton breakfast, you just turn up :) It's from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. No particularly characters are listed, it's basically a lucky draw. Minnie is usually there but everyone else is a surprise.

You should have no problems with a walk-up at GG. We've been several times in the past, and have only once seen it near 50% seating capacity. Usually, 15-20% is the norm that we have observed.
