I understand I can request at Guest Services when I activate our new AP's next October, to "prioritize" our AP's and the system won't use our current non expiring tickets left on our account. But, the worry wart in me, says that computers can fail, and somehow those precious four non expiring tickets that are left, will somehow be activated. Please put my mind at ease? thanks.

What do you mean by "activated?" If the tickets haven't been used yet, just create some fake names and reassign the no-expiration tickets that them.

If the tickets are already active, stop by guest services and have them prioritize the tickets. Then, when you go through the turnstiles, ask a CM with an iPad to verify which tickets were used. If the wrong ones were used, they can fix it right away.

My bro has 8 days left on his 10 day NE tickets. He hasn't linked them to MDE because he worries that they will be used before his Military Salute tickets. Is it possible to link them to MDE and use the physical ticket to enter as opposed to MBs? Seems as if that would eliminate the necessity of having a CM at the turnstile verify correct ticket was used.

This is what I'd do. It's my understanding that active passes are always first in line anyway but it's good to be vigilant.

Once you link them, the card becomes equivalent to a Magic band; it's no longer a ticket, but rather a link to your profile. So, no, that wouldn't help.

And that's true even if you reassign an unused ticket, the original card ticket remains linked to who it was assigned to initially from what I'm told.

There is a work around that would essentially work that way. If he wants to create a second MDE profile for himself using something like initials, nickname, middle name, he could link the non expiring ticket to it and have other tickets still on his existing profile. It would allow him to make FPs and use the non expiring when he wished while eliminating concern of it being used out of order. He'd assign the non expiring to the new profile (second one of his) and then use the ticket itself for entry. He'd use his first profile and MB for other tickets.

You have to go to GR or a ticket window to activate a DVC gold pass anyway, so it should pretty simple to just have them prioritize the newly activated AP.

We had this happen to us. They used our 4 day non-expiring passes first. We had trouble getting into the park one day and the CM came over with the the iPad to assist. She typed on the screen a few times and said all fixed and we went through with no issues going forward. She never said a word or asked us any questions. It was not until we returned home and was booking a trip about a month later when I noticed that my non-expiring tickets are not showing on my MDE and my expire date to the annual pass was about four days later then it should have been. I had to call and get transferd many times and got no where. After sending emails to Executives and taking to Twitter I finally got a phone call from a person that was able to help but had to call me back a few days later.

It was not good and at first the few CMs that I spoke to about the problem said that was my error and they would not credit me back for the days used. lets 'think' about the situation, why would I buy annual passes and pick them up at guest services the first day that Disney started to use my non-expiring tickets for entry. When did you think I was going to use my annual pass? After I used those 4 days first? Well that was what the first few CMs stood by in my conversation. in customer service it's not the problem, it's the recovery. They fixed the problem but it took weeks to get though to Disney as to what the problem was. This is the part of the original problem they clearly failed. They really need to have a specialized escalation group to handle calls and complaints and the front line should understand when they need to transfer a call to resolve a client issue.

So, long story here. Go into your MDE account and place your non-expiring ticket to be inactive and that should keep you safe.

Going to Guest Services and having the tickets you want to use prioritized will work.

I always prioritize then with GS at the start of the trip. I also usually check near the end of our trip at guest services on the way out of the park that the AP (or current expiring tickets) were used and not the non-expire. That way, they can fix it right there if the wrong ticket was used during that trip. So far, so good.

I'm with your bro. Why bother linking them and invite trouble? Leave them off MDE until he's ready to use them.

I have a day left on an old non expiring ticket. I bought my Gold AP online and it was never touched. Not sure why it would be.

WOW. OP here. Thank you so much for sharing your story. That is exactly my fear, exactly as you described. And thank you for the solution! I will do that. My son actually worked on the team that started up MDE and magic bands. He said to just go to GS and have them prioritize. I still worry. But, hopefully what you described will take care of it. thanks again.

Thanks everyone! Very helpful.

So we have NE+ tickets which includes Water Park visits. We also have AP vouchers which we plan on using in the future. We also plan on visiting the Water Parks during our AP year.

Am I correct in assuming that once I get our AP's prioritized, I won't be able to use my NE+ Water Park portion unless I again go to MS and re-prioritize back to the NE+ tickets. Then I'll have to do the same thing again prior to reentering a park. What a pain..... There has to be an easier way.

If you have either a Gold or Platinum Pass (which don't include WP access), you don't need to have the tickets prioritized in order to enter a WP.

You do want the have them prioritized for Theme Park (MK, Epcot, DHS or DAK) entry if the NE tickets have any Theme Park days remaining.

It would go down to whatever ticket had the WP entitlement - it won't just look at the first in the priority for the water park and then say you can't get in. If your NE tickets are not linked yet you also could just use them and not worry about entitlements getting out of priority thru ME. You'd have to get them updated to RFID ticket stock though.

I agree with this. I have a second profile where my middle name is NE. My non expiring tickets are linked to that profile, so there is no chance they will get uses accidently when I use my other profile for expiring tickets.

Thank you so much for this information. This makes a whole lot more sense!! We currently have 6 park days and 10 WP days each remaining on our NE+ tics. We'll be sure to get the AP's prioritized, and double check with a CM after we enter a park.

It worked for us. I asked for them to be prioritized when we activated and the CM did it no problem. It's a more than a little dumb that that's not automatic, though. (Why would you want to use non-expiring hoppers when you have an AP?!)... but what can you do?
