Don't go at night!
Okay , well not all gas stations are not seedy. I managed gas stations for 8 years. Now the areas may be in those types of places. Oh the story's I could tell...mine have been very entertaining.I hate it, my eyes looking all over the place, Im planning my escape, almost all gas stations are seedy places
There aren't very many places in this town I'd feel unsafe day or night; certainly not at well-lit gas stations in the 'burbs. We're lucky that way.I can see a gas station from my living room window and I don't live in a seedy area, just on a main road out of a subdivision. I also regularly stop for gas at odd hours (usually between 00:00 and 06:30) and never feel unsafe...

I see you’re from Pittsburgh. My wife and I go there a few times a year and stay in the city and make day trips hiking out in the mountains. It’s very much a pain to get gasoline in that area. It just seems hard to find places. It’s like going back in time.I think you're living in the wrong area! Although where I live I have to plan out my trips to the gas station because the 2 local ones close at 9:00 and 10:00 PM. Otherwise, I have to drive about 25 minutes to get to a 24 hour gas station, terrified that a deer is going to jump in front of my car at any moment on the dark roads.
Glad you like Pittsburgh! I'm actually in a rural suburb, about 45 minutes from the outer parts of the city if there's no traffic on the Parkway. My town truly is like going back in time though; one of the two gas stations is full-service, the old men like to hang out in the service station on chairs that are straight out of the 1950's. The whole place feels like a set from the Andy Griffith show! Southwestern PA is a great place to live, and I agree the city of Pittsburgh is kind of old-fashioned, but isn't that part of it's charm? It's a city of neighborhoods.I see you’re from Pittsburgh. My wife and I go there a few times a year and stay in the city and make day trips hiking out in the mountains. Agreed, even the safest towns today, something can happen.
I personally try not to get gas later in the evening. Have you seen videos on the news where a customer is pumping their gas, the car doors are unlocked, purse is on the seat, and someone either pulls up quickly gets out, steals the purse from front seat and speeds away? We always lock our car doors when we are getting gas and don't live a purse or wallet out on seat. Try to take safety precautions!
