When staying at a Disney Resort (saratoga Springs) which is the quickest way to the parks, personal automobile, or use the Disney bus, etc.?

For the most part, driving is always faster than the bus BUT the nice thing about the bus is it brings you closer to the entrance to the parks.

I do both...depending on which park I'm going to, when I'm going, if the bus stop is crowded or just how I'm feeling at the time.

I always drive to DTD. I always take the bus to MK because of how close the bus brings you. I sometimes drive to Epcot, MGM and AK depending on where I'm staying.

Disney provides excellent transportation to all their theme parks. At park openings and closing the buses will be crowded, but they do add extra buses at these times. We always get to all the parks before opening so the buses are still quiet. At closing time the best advice is NOT to try exiting right away. Last June my DS and I watched Wishes at the MK and then just sat on a bench across from the castle while the throngs headed down Main Street to the exits. After 15-20 minutes we slowly walked to the exit and the bus station was peaceful. Relax and take your time. You will be on vacation so no need to race around.
Also note that no trafffic other then Disney buses are allowed near the Magic Kingdom. Everyone else must go to the TTC. From there you either walk or tram (depending on how far back you are....it's a HUGE lot) to either the boat or monorail to get to the MK. Disney buses leave you off near the MK entrance.

The quickest way to the MK is by bus as if you drive, you park at the TTC and take either the monorial or ferry to the MK.

We usually drive to the other parks. We travel at the end of the summer, so crowds are low (less cars in the lot) and it's hot (don't want to wait outside for the bus). We did bus a few times last summer, and found that we got to the parks way too early. We had a hard time judging what time we needed to catch the bus in the am.

We usually go back to our resort in the afternoon, and to anothr park at night. Late afternoon you can usually park up near the front of the lot as early morning people have already left.

If I were traveling at a cooler time of the year, I probably would use DME and the bus system and skip the rental car.

WE go to WDW a lot and I learned a few years back, it is much better to take WDW transportation to the parks than to drive to a park. Sometimes the bus ride and wait can be a bit longer, but it's all relative.

If you drive by the time you walk to your car in the parking lot or wait for a valet to pick it up and then drive to the park (and wait behind all of the buses!! LOL!!) and then park in the lot and then either walk to the entrance from your car or take the tram...most of the time DRIVING is longer!! (we've been there, done that)...

Once the bus picks you up it does make some other stops sometimes but it takes you MUCH closer to the entrance and if you're going to MK you don't have to take the monorail or ferry which is an additional 15-20 minutes minimum added to what I said above.

The only exception "may" be FW if you have to use the internal buses. Since you have to take a bus to the front (or boat from the dock) & you don't have a golf cart it can be time consuming HOWEVER that being said, drive to the front if you have a car and park near the buses if you prefer--this is where we learned it was longer to drive to the park!! We went to Epcot and parked what seemed like a mile away from the entrance. We just missed the tram so we walked it, it was a long walk.

NOW, DTD or to a resort--that's a whole different story, drive. Although, from SS, DTD is probably a quick hop on a bus (or boat ride??) Because with the resorts, you have to transfer buses at a park or the TTC or DTD. That can take a long time.

WE go to WDW a lot and I learned a few years back, it is much better to drive to the parks than to take WDW transportation. The exception being going to the MK. IF you don't get to park near the entrance, parking lot trams will take you right near the park entrance and are running constantly; nothing like the wait for a bus can be.

We keep a cooler with snacks and drinks in our car; we all have a seat coming and going; and we don't have to wait for a bus (or buses) to leave.

We prefer a car. We've done it both ways several times, and having the nice car with my own seat, leave when I want to, and not wait for a bus or room for us, (or because I'm short, smell other people's underarms if I have to stand) makes it all worth it to me.
