I posted on the poly board, but didn't really get an answer, so I will try here. We have a garden view booked for Sept. My DD's would love one of the rooms where you can see the monorail, but I am afraid that it is to far from the TTC. We chose the poly for the convenience of being able to get to Epcot and MK with ease. Would I be better off trying to get a longhouse that is closer to the TTC or is the walk not that bad? TIA;)

I would like to know as well. I have 3 small children and we need easy access to the monorail.

What is TTC?

The TTC is the Ticket and Transportation Center and is the travel hub for WDW. This is where you pick up the monorail to EPCOT, take buses to other parks, etc. It is located right next to the Polynesian and is about a 5-10 minute walk depending on your building location. The walk is not bad at all--it's actually very pretty and very nicely themed...have a great trip!! :cool1:

Thank you.

Is there anyway to be near the pool and the TTC? I didn't do much research on the Poly......I guess I better get on it.

You can catch the monorail to the Magic Kingdom at the Great Ceremonial House and the monorail to Epcot at the TTC. I don't think the walk to either of these from anywhere in the resort is bad.

I remember when I first looked at the Polynesian maps it looked very spread out but when you actually see the resort, that's not really the case. At least in my opinion.

No matter where you are at the Poly, its really not that far from the TTC. If you were in a long-house closer to Luau Cove, I suspect the walk could be 10-15 minutes, while the one closest to TTC would be only about 5 minutes. Have you looked at a poly map? http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/PolynesianMap.pdf

Hi there. You are going to LOVE the Polynesian  It is wonderful!

I have stayed in a garden view room in Raratonga twice and had great views of the monorail whizzing past :thumbsup2 PLUS it is right next door to the Grand Ceremonial House which is SO convenient for dining, monorail access, etc. It is also conveninet to both pools and the walk from the TTC is maybe 5 minutes. You would be VERY happy there. I'm going to look back for my monorail-from-the-room photo.

I'm jumping on too (hope that is okay). I also tried the Poly board first. Not complaining at all - people get busy & posts missed. :) I read through the first part of the thread for info - and maybe need to go back and read every post.

The map is very helpful. However, without ever having been there it is hard to guage the distance between the buildings. For 2009 I was thinking of trying for a theme park view in the Tahiti bldg - I'm just curious as it does appear on the map to be far from the main building & pool. But is that distance a 5 minute, 10 minute or farther walk? Does anyone know?

Tahiti is a great choice :thumbsup2 Of course, it would only be a request as you probably already know.
But the distance is maybe 5 minutes max. And Tahiti has its own "private" beach. It also has slightly larger rooms (along with Tokelau and Rapa Nui - the 3 are newer than the others). Theme Park View in Tahiti would be amazing! When I stayed there we were in a garden view and LOVED the location!

I did get from the Poly thread that requesting a bldg didn't mean you get it - but they do make their best effort. Thank you for pointing that out!

Also, thank you for the distance answer. Makes me feel better about asking for that building!! :)

While the Tahiti Longhouse is the best one for being close to the TTC if you are able to stay over there, it's still the longest one away from the Great Ceremonial House. So that could be something else to consider if you plan to spend a fair amount of time in there.

How far of a walk would you say it is from the Tahiti to the Great Cermonial House? I'm gathering it's not a long one from other posts. Maybe 10 minutes?

We stayed in Nuie (?sp) right next to the cove and CH because it has handicapped accessible rooms. The walk for us to the TTC was 13-15 min with 2 year old twins. I will say though the walk is very relaxing as the landscaping is beautiful escpecially when tiki lamps are lit. Even when I was tired from being at Epcot all day I did not mind the walk back to our room. Hope this helps.:thumbsup2

You can take the monorail from the GCH at the Poly to the TTC to get to Epcot (switch monorails at the TTC) or a direct one to MK. You do not have to walk. Some people like to because you can go direct from the TTC. The time difference for switching is approx 1 - 5 minutes.

If your kids want to see the monorail, ask for a longhouse close to the GCH...but believe me, watching the monorail is fun for a few minutes, but the humming of it 20 hours a day as it goes by your room at night sometimes is not worth it. Some are so tired they dont even notice it!

We stayed many summers at CR and the Poly and requested a room with a view of the monorail - never tired of seeing it glide by as it added to the magic for us ;)

Never-the-less our favorite longhouse is Tokleau because it is very centrally located, 1st fl has a patio and both 2nd and 3rd have a balcony :)

It is a 5 min walk to TTC in one direction and the same to GCH in the other :)

Rooms are the largest at the Poly (as well as Tahiti and Rapa Nui), the hallways are wide and each floor has a nice lounge near the elevator.

For excellent info google tikiman's website (hope that is okay to post) where you will find all the info you could ever hope for on the Polynesian Resort. :)

Have a fabulous visit!! :goodvibes

p.s If you would prefer a balcony be sure to request one as most longhouses do not one on the 2nd floor (only Tokelau, Tahiti & Rapa Nui).

The walk isn't bad at all from the Poly to TTC. We stayed in the Tahiti building in 2006 with a 2 1/2 yr old, an 18month old and a 1 yr old (celebrated his b-day at WDW)...it was a snap to get from our room to the TTC.
