Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some help planning out our trip from Miami to WDW. We're sailing on a cruise from Miami in October 2022 (we really wanted a 5 night cruise to Grand Cayman, this was the only option) and we just booked the following week at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek for some time at the parks. I don't know much about Florida or what's available. We need to get from Miami to our hotel at WDW and I'm not sure what options are there. I know it's about 4 hour trip, so I'm considering renting a vehicle, but I'd also be curious if there are other options.

Let me know what you know. Thanks!

The easiest would be to rent car from an agency that has a pick-up shuttle at the port.
Amtrak from downtown Miami to Kissimmee or Orlando (the Brightline doesn't run to Orlando yet)
JetSet bus from MIA to Kissimmee or Orlando

Mom and I did this a few years ago. We took a cruise out of Miami and then spent a couple days at Universal. I didn’t want to drive and the bus ride would be too long for mom(I think it was 6 hours or more). So I found good flights on American Airlines and since it was just the two of us, we flew. If there are more in your traveling party, it probably would be better to rent a car.

Southwest flies Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando pretty reasonable if you book early. They also allow 2 bags free per person.
But renting a car is easy too, 4 hours right up the Turnpike.

We have gone to WDW following DCL cruises from Miami multiple times. We always rent a car, picking it up at the car rental center near MIA airport. We have taken taxis or Uber/Lyft from the port to the rental center, since it’s more convenient for us to manage our luggage that way compared to using the (free) rental agency shuttle.

We did a one day car rental on 11/18. Very easy to pickup at the car center at Miami Airport, navigate to the interstate and get on the Florida Turnpike. Straight shot for about 3 1/2 hours. Dropped off at the Orlando Car Center near MK and they shuttled us to Pop Century. We used National. I had booked back in May because of the "lack of rental car fear" and paid National $167 for the one day rental plus tolls. We were a party of 4.
