getting from cruise ship to Miami Airport

We are cruising out of Port of Miami. I am trying to figure out how to get from the cruise to the airport afterwards. We are picking up a car at the airport and driving up to Orlando but am not sure how to go about gettting to the airport other than doing the Disney transportation that is $20/person.
Any other ideas please?

We grabbed a cab for the 4 of us and it was right at $21 plus tip so $25

We grabbed a cab and did exactly what you did. Very easy! Tons of cabs waiting for you when you get off the ship, we needed a van because there were 6 of us plenty of minivan cabs.

we also have 6. So you think we would be fine just grabbing a cab/van at the port? how much did that cost ya do you remember?

I do not remember the cost, but I remember thinking it wasn't too expensive. On another cruise I booked a car service in advance to pick us up from the Miami Port and they never showed up. It was a big hassle getting in touch with them. I remember the cost of the cab wasn't that different (I want to say in the $35-$40 range, but I am not positive). Since then we always hop in cabs from the airports, or ports we are in (Vancouver, Miami, Canaveral). It is always fast and not too expensive. The only place we ever had an issue was after our Alaska cruise we took a train to Seattle and wanted a cab from the Seattle train station to our hotel. Seattle does not have vans for cabs (only for handicapped).

i just contacted who we are renting a car from and they actually will have a shuttle at the port for us to take to the airport

I know this has been resolved, but Miami has FLAT RATES for airport to port rates that all cabs must adhere to whether its a van or car...if you get charged more than $27, you've been ripped off. IF you need to go near the airport...its game over. We used Uber to get to our hotel because the cab ride to our hotel next to the airport was going to be almost $50.00.

we are flying into ft lauderdale and taking gomjstrans.com to get from airport to port. but we are not going back to Ft laudredale after the cruise.
