This could be long and complicated, but here's the gist of it. We are spending the day at Animal Kingdom. We have a 7:45 dinner ressie at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The question is, how to we get back to our hotel, Pop Century after dinner? Some say, if we take a Disney bus from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to Downtown Disney and transfer to a Pop bus, it could take well over an hour. Some say we should drive our rental car to Animal Kingdom Lodge in the morning and take a bus to the park. (I don't think that we'll be allowed to do that.) And now my travel agent is suggesting that we take our rental car and park at Downtown Disney in the morning and take a bus to Animal Kingdom. Is that allowed? :confused3

1. This is the way to do it on Disney buses and people have posted that it can take that long.

2. You are correct that you shouldn't be parking there if you are staying there.

3. There is no direct bus from DTD to AK so you would have to transfer at a resort. Which could add an hour in the morning. Thats if the bus runs early enough.

Using option 1 ,Disney buses, you would have to transfer at either DTD or an open park. Just beware if you go to a park don't get there at closing when everyone else is also wanting to get back to the POP.

Other options are take a taxi from AK to Pop or just drive that morning to AK and at the end of the day drive to AKL and then drive home.

I think I would do none of the above and take the bus back to Pop after your Animal Kingdom visit. Freshen up and drive your rental to AKL for the Boma ressie. Then you'll have your car after dinner. Going to DTD either before or after will add a lot of time to your transportation. And, as the pp noted, there are no direct busses from DTD to any of the parks -- only to the resorts. Parking at DTD can be a real pain, too.

If you were planning to go to DTD for an evening anyway, then taking the bus from AKL to DTD after dinner would make sense. We have done that when staying at Pop and dining at Boma before.

Depending on the time of year you are going I would also think about EMH evening hours at the parks or any special parties at the Magic Kingdom and take a bus from AKL to that park then the bus from there to POP this has worked for me in the past and seems to be faster than DTD

Or this, except stick to Epcot or DHS (MK is too far out of your way):

But definitely don't go to/from DTD... that would take forever.

I would opt to drive to AK in the morning, spend the day there, then drive to AKL, have dinner and drive back to Pop. I found driving to AK easier than trying to negotiate buses and parking was easy. When you get to AKL, just tell them you have a dinner reservation and you shouldn't have any problem.

Otherwise, the next easiest/fastest option is to take a taxi from AKL to Pop after dinner. I know that catching a taxi from the BC and BWI are easy, so I would guess it's the same at AKL.
