getting fit for your trip - a place to share & ramble

I stayed in bed hitting snooze every 5 minutes, I'd better run tonight, I can't undo the work I've already done :sad2:

But those damn maple cashews :rolleyes1

I've not run since Saturday, the kids are at home. Plenty of dog walks but nothing more than a small person can handle. I was going to run this morning as DH is working from home but a little boy decided to have a nightmare and get in with us and put his knees in my kidneys all night. Five nights in a row of three hours sleep is not making me a dream to live with right now.

Weigh in day - down 800gms. Obviously the post earthquake icecream diet has worked. I only ate some because I thought the seals had gone on the freezer as it was so runny. Turns out I accidently hit the cold dial on the freezer at some point. Upside is that we don't need a new fridge freezer. Downside is the ice cream has gone back to frozen and looks like too much work to get out of the tub. :rotfl:

oooohhhhh..if only i wasnt lactose intolerant, then I'd be on the ice cream diet in a flash..even in this weather wearing a beanie if I had to.

Good job re 0.8kg loss...sounds better than 800 grams:rotfl:

I like the sound of that ice cream diet! :scratchin

Another workout last night. I put in a bit extra since it had been a while. Felt it today - my legs felt like jelly walking up the stairs at the station this morning. Still, I always feel so much better the day after a workout. Motivation to go again tonight? We'll see.

Mornings and evenings are so damn cold right now! It's definitely the coldest couple of weeks of the year. Bring on Spring and daylight saving please!

I'm modifying the ice cream diet to include Indian takeaways. *burp* I think I may have a small lay down now on the couch, as long as DH is still awake to haul me off it, it's all good. :thumbsup2

too cold to exercise today...maybe in september:upsidedow

so, its going to be another day of cold and rain and no exercise:sad2:

and he bought home cake.....why??????:upsidedow

oh well........:crazy2:

Well I'm incredibly proud of myself. DH last night offered me a can of soft drink - not something we normally have in the house - and I turned him down! I actually didn't even feel like it! Still no bingeing either. I suspect that habit is gone and my addiction to sugar is fading a bit. Hooray!!! :cool1:

I'm trying to eat and drink because I'm hungry and thirsty and not because that's what I usually do at that time of the day. I've even stopped having my 8:30am coffee and now wait until I really feel like it.

Last night I did Level 2 on my Shred DVD for the first time. Ouch. That woman was trying to kill me. I survived though, and if I can still move this evening, I'll attempt it again :)

Feeling very pleased with myself :cool1:

:rolleyes1It really was not a good idea to buy the 2 packets of family pack lollies today because we wanted the very cute Allens lolley jar that came for free with them as now they are enticing us to eat Milko's Red skins and Sherbies;)

Dragged myself out for a 10km run this morning. I had calf cramp the entire way and my left thumb is bad (I hyper extended it during Tuesday's earthquake). I'm going to have to get a proper strap for it as the stupid thing was stinging and sending shock waves up my arm the entire run. I get home and DH is still in his pjs making WW soup and bread with the kids playing dratted Play Doh everywhere and making a general mess with a look of delight on their faces.

play doh...scurge of the universe and banned in my house...my car...my yard..or within 500m of anything i own:thumbsup2

funny thing with hands, especially thumbs..all the nerves run thru them and when you exercise they tend to get the brunt of the "sensations"..lived with nerve damage in shoulder/arm/thumb for 8 years..not a fun experience.I found strapping also helped to control the nerve pain....also hurt when i went to the loo...go figure:confused3

I hear you on the Play Doh! It's been designated an 'outside toy' in our house. We've never bought a tub for ourselves, but somehow we have dozens of the buggers!

I did a week 2 session of the Couch 2 5K this morning. Yikes! I was going to do week 1, but DH thought it would be too easy. He was probably right, but I'm glad I didn't try week 3 or more! I decided since it was only week 2 I could do the mostly uphill course and boy did I feel it. Still, I'm glad I stuck with it. Not planning on actually running a 5km and I get bored when I get to the longer runs, but I'll stick with doing intervals, it really improves the fitness levels.

Try and get on some hilly or dune trails 5ofus. That brings your heart rate up and down like internal spin classes. I do about 7.5km on those trails and then the remainder of the 10km on tarmac now. Dunno if I'd switch to tarmac permanently but I'm now seeing the benefit of having a sticky beak in people's gardens and getting ideas as I run urban as well as off-road.

My fault with the Play Doh, I was desperate for an inside treat for the kids as it was due to wazz it down all holidays. First week of the holidays and we've had one day of rain. One day. Someone in the Met Office can come up to mine and clean up the devestation that Play Doh brings with it now.

whoever invented play doh needs to be arrested/ beaten/ made to eat the stuff....

Play-Doh.JPG

what it does to the carpet is criminal..especially for OCD people like me..

I swear I could smell play d'oh just looking at those photos - I always preferred the home made stuff when I could be bothered !
