Getting fit for Cruise

You're preachin' the gospel here, sister! Diets that eliminate entire food groups seem to forget that simple fact. You can basically eat whatever you want, but some choices are wiser than others. It's all about calories out exceeding calories in.

Right! However, we must remember that eating for weight loss is not necessarily the same as eating for our health. Weight loss is just about calories. It's a simple numbers game. Being healthy, however, is about eating the right foods. You can lose weight by eating cake everyday (if that's all you eat all day) but you won't be satisfied or very healthy. That's where the balance has to come in. You can eat a Lot more if you eat the right stuff. Filling up on low cal foods like vegetables is a great way to lose weight and still be satisfied. The key is not to 'give up' anything that you are going to crave. This often times backfires. I'm a chocolate Fanatic and it's something my body tells me I Need  so, when I'm trying to lose weight, I just build about 100 calories worth of chocolate into my daily intake. I fill up on other 'healthy' things but still allow my self that one small indulgence. If I didn't do that, I would eventually burst and go eat a whole pan of brownies one day, which would not be good for the diet. Dieting is about willpower, but it's not about total sacrifice. :)

Besides working out, every time I wanted to eat something high calorie and unnecessary, just because it would taste good or make me feel better, I asked myself, will I feel better eating this or abstaining from eating this.

Yup, so true! My mantra is...Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels! Ain't it the truth! :goodvibes

It helps to plan your indulgences when trying to lose weight. For instance, if DH and I are going out to eat on a Saturday night, I will be extra disciplined during the week and really cut back my calorie intake during the day Saturday in anticipation of a special treat at the restaurant. I'll even set a mini goal for the week and treat myself to dessert at the restaurant when I've reached it

Haven't heard from anyone for a while. How is everyone doing with their pre-cruise fitness goals? Any new insights or tips?
