From what I have gathered on other threads and posts...

I am buying a new DVC AP (possibly PAP) for my december trip. Not a renewal.

So no matter how I do this, it has to be "activated" at the park (in December), so there is no way to make use of FP+ for that trip?

I already have ressies for 12/13 and plan on going for F&W in late Sept or Early Oct of 2014, so trying to get AP's and TIW to overlap.

I just linked my Will Call annual pass to my MDE account. Worked just fine. All I needed was the confirmation number from the purchase. I am expecting that will allow me to use the FP+ features when available to the general public. As you probably know, FP+ is still in the testing phase right now.

So you should be able to do the same if you purchase in advance using the will call method. You'll still have to go to Guest Relations to pick up your actual pass, though.

I just lined 5 day passes as well which are not yet activated so you should be able to do it.

DON'T GET THE PAPER VOUCHER!

I just read in www.touringplans.com blog that paper vouchers cannot be linked in the MDE ticket section. I checked it out and didn't see any way to do it for my account, either. Sorry for the incorrect assumption in my first post. I removed it.

The will call option is definitely there, though. Maybe they will add the vouchers in the future. IMO, there's no real advantage to get the paper voucher anyway and it costs more.

TY. did you buy your AP thru the member site? call MS?

It was the special $399 DVC PAP and I honestly do not remember for sure. Based on the email confirmation, I think I bought them by clicking on a link from the DVC Members' website.

Either way should work out. Just remember to go for the will call option if you want to be sure of linking the pass to your MDE account.

I'm curious to know the answer to that also, as I tried to link my AP (plastic tickets) using Will Call and the number under the bar code.... didn't work using any combination of methods.

I tried to link my will call tickets. For whatever reason it worked but only registered three of the four i bought at the same time. Spent some time on the phone with a tech person. While i could see three of the four, he could only see two. He is sending in a report about it. Said i would eventually hopefully see it correctly in my dis experience. He was also doubtful it would matter since our first trip with the tickets will be in dec. in his opinion fp+ will still be testing then. He also thought the issue would go away in my dis exp once i had actual ticket numbers to link rather then the will call number for the four

Carol, we purchased DVC PAP's the last day of our December trip last year. We only got the vouchers because we don't want to activate the passes until this Dec. I was able to link my paper PAP passses purchased at Epcot to my MDE. Of course, that doesn't mean I'll be able to get fast pass plus, but at least I was able to link them.

Out of curiousity, what is the advantage to linking your PAP to MDE if FP+ isn't going to be offered for your travel dates?

I already have my ADR's, can arrange ME through MS if I need it ... is there another advantage I'm overlooking?

(Wow that was a lot of acronyms!)

None, when are you going.

The will call option also requires you to go to guest services to pick up the pass. The actual year of admission begins the day you pick up the pass - the same as if you exchanged your voucher for the pass. No difference except you give them a confirmation number instead of a voucher to pick up the pass.

The OP wants to link his ticket before he arrives (in case the fast pass+ system goes live before his next trip). You cannot link a voucher number in MDE ahead of time. You must wait until you get the actual pass. However, the MDE software does have an option to link a will call number ahead of time. That's what I did.

Thanks Carol, we are going in March and plan on getting AP's. Who knows what will be going on with FP+ by then.

I have a regular ticket for my solo October trip, which I have linked in my MDE account. Hoping to be picked for a FP+ test.

I'm going the week before Thanksgiving. I always seem to miss the tests for things by just a little, so I'm not concerned about it. I went ahead and linked them just to see how it works, and the software is better than some of the other Disney IT products I've used.
It still seems like a super involved way to preplan your vacation ... hope this system isn't implemented in the same way at DLR anytime soon!

It allows you access to the AP discounts etc
