Getting dropped off at Universal/IOA

My DH is not a park person so he will be dropping myself and the kids (pre-teens) off at Universal and picking us up when we are done. We are driving down so we will have a car. Does anyone know where the drop off point is? Will he have to pay for parking to drop us off? Will we have to walk far to get to the park entrance?

We were there back in November and I remember parking in the garage and walking a ways before we passed through City Walk and eventually made it into the parks. Trying to avoid the extra walking.

Drop-off area is over by the valet parking. No fee, and probably less walking than if you'd parked in the garage.

There is also a drop off area where the buses (not the universal but the group buses and off-site hotel buses) stop. There is a staircase or escalator right there.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know which drop-off site is closer? The one near valet parking or the off-site bus drop-off? And how do we get to each of these places? Are there signs to follow?
Any idea how long of a walk it is from here to the park entrance? I'm trying to plan it so we can be at the gate at park opening. Thanks!

There are signs to follow. Allow yourself about 15 minutes depending on crowds. The parks usually open early so plan to arrive 45 minutes to an hour before posted times.

The one Damo told you about is the closest cause thats where we where droped off even when we took a taxi there

There are signs and the one in the bus/taxi drop-off puts you right in the main hub of the parking garage.
