Getting Back to TTC after Pirates and Pals

We are planning our first trip for November 2013 and are staying at Pop Century. We are going to do dinner at Chef Mickey's followed by the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage on our first night. Based on the time limit that you are allowed to park at a resort you are not staying at, I think we will need to park at the TTC and take the monorail to the Contemporary. My question is will we still be able to take a monorail, bus, or boat back to the TTC after the fireworks voyage ends? I've heard that all transportation stops one hour after the park closes. The Magic Kingdom is closing at 10:00 that night with Wishes showing at the same time, so all transportation should stop around 11:00. Will we be back at the Contemporary quickly enough after the fireworks to make it back to the TTC before all transportation stops running? Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't know what time the fireworks cruise gets back, but you're right, the Resort Monorail should be closing at 11 p.m. based on the current schedule.

You could plan on taking a taxi from CR to TTC. It's only a couple of miles, so the fare should be under $10. You might have to hike out to your car if the trams have stopped running.

Or you could take the bus to MK before dinner, and then get back to Pop by taking the bus from CR to DTD and transferring. That trip back could take a while, like maybe an hour. At least the bus leaving DTD won't be stopping at TL at that late hour.

BTW, how do you know the MK will be closing at 10? It looks like the hours have been published only thru February.

I'm basing my plans on this year's hours. We are arriving the Friday after Thanksgiving. I had found a website that lists the parks' hours from over the last few years, and it looks like the hours are typically the same for that week from year to year, so I am assuming they will be the same next year, too. I know they may not be, and I may have to change my plans, but at least I will already have a good idea of what we are doing on which days, and I can tweak those plans once the official November and December 2013 hours are published next year.

Thanks.

if you have dinner at CR AND are doing the Pirates and Pals cruise, you should have no problem parking your car at CR for the entire duration necessary. They do not check the amount of time you've been there. Instead, they either turn you away to begin with, or let you through, but once you are in, you're in. The only problem you might encounter would be if they have closed the parking lot down EVEN to guests with reservations. I am not sure if they have gone that far before, but I suppose it's possible.

If that is the case and your speculated hours end up being correct, you could walk from Contemporary to MK and hop on the ferry. Monorails run until 1 hr after park close, but watercraft and buses run until the park is clear. I HIGHLY doubt the park would clear within an hour. You will be back at CR by 10:25 and should be done with the whole experience by 10:45 so plenty of time to walk back to MK and catch the Ferry.

And for others who don't know about watercarft/buses running until park clear, please, don't use what I said as an excuse to be the last out of the park. All it does is prevent the CMs from going home to their families. We tell people 1 hour after park close for a reason.

If the OP is done with the experience by 10:45, wouldn't they still be able to catch a monorail at CR directly to TTC before 11? I don't think it would take more than 10 minutes to walk from the marina to the elevators and ride up to the 4th floor. (I'm assuming the elevators would be faster than the 2 escalators.)

I don't know how the monorail "closes." Do they close the gates at 11 and run trains until the platforms are clear, or do they start closing earlier?

You need to park at the Contemporary - you will have no trouble at the gate staying for the evening for both events. Just tell the guard what you are doing. It would be crazy to do anything else.

We were on the firework cruise last week and ended up taking a taxi back to hotel. Only bus you can take is to downtown Disney with the 20 something's

potentially yes, but that's not a given and the ferry is pretty much a given. I'm not sure the specifics of their shut down procedure unfortunately.

the 20 somethings are in for a rude awakening cuz there's nothing to do at DTD late at night :rotfl: Next time tell them to get a cab to citywalk at Universal:lmao:

I complained to Disney about having to take a taxi back after PP

And they gave me a credit for the price paid to taxi, they understood that getting back to hotel after was a bad situation
