Getting around without a car

Hi everyone

I used these wonderful boards a few years back when I was planning my last trip to Orlando and know it's the best place to come for help and advise.

The last twice I have been I have stayed on I-drive (for budgetary reasons, as am I this time). The first time was in December 2001, it was VERY quiet, for obvious reasons, and we managed to get round on the free shuttle service from our hotel with NO problems. The last time however was a different story. Again, without a car and again in December, used the I-Trolly, Lynx and free shuttles. Not great, took ages to get everywhere. However, we did have this guy who stopped at the bus stop near Seaworld and offered everyone a cheap taxi to WDW and he'd arrange to pick up too. Only for a few dollars each. He even picked us up at our hotel on occasions too, and I actually found this less hassle. I'd use him again if he's still around?

So, I was wondering if anyone can suggest decent and reasonable taxi firm's to get us to WDW and Universal from Pointe Orlando area? And approx how much they would charge us?

I'm currently saving like a mad woman to make this another magical holiday and where possible like to keep the cost down on stuff like transport.

I notice you have stayed at the Best Wester Plaza, although 10 years ago, how was it? That's where I'm staying next year.
