Getting around ship

so I have been looking at plans of the ship to get a feel for the layout of the Dream. I read about the maps on the carpet helping show which way is forward. Any other tips? Can you access each deck from any elevator, or do I need to find the forward elevator to get to the theatre, etc?

On the Dream and Fantasy the port side of the ship has fish message holders next to the cabins and the starboard side has seahorses. Magic and Wonder have fish on both sides, I believe. Not really a tip about getting around, but make sure you go on the mid-ship elevators at least once. I won't say why, but there's a nice little surprise that only they have, won't see it until you're on one of them, go all the way to top deck on them. Just don't try to ride them after shows/dinner or other busy times, or you'll be waiting forever to get on one.

Edited to add: the surprise is only on the 2 glass elevators closest to the atrium, not the other ones in the same area.

I think the layout is fairly intuitive. You will learn quickly where Cabanas is along with the drink station :) The pool deck near the AFT funnel has most of the quick eats and ice cream. This is sort of where we wind up at various times of the day... lol. Then the main lobby area is mid-ship. Main dining is off this area, towards the Aft. Deck 4 has a nice outside walking area that can take you the whole way around so its a good way to scoot around. Also use the App - i think its well organized, and when you look at the activity you want, it will even show you the location on the ship. I bet within 2 days you will know your way around. I felt very comfortable with the ship soon after arriving. It's not like the new new RCL mega ships that are truly floating cities. Have fun!

If you want to get to the Deck 12 adult areas (Remy, Palo and Meridian) you'll have to climb the aft stairs or take an elevator. They are not technically accessible from outside, though there is an outside staircase from the Cabanas outside deck to Meridian's smoking deck. If you want to get to the Outlook "bar", which isn't a bar anymore unfortunately, you have either one single elevator to get there, or you'll climb the stairs. It's not very easy to find.

Make sure these Midship elevators are the two that are glass, closest to the Atrium. The surprise doesn't exist in the other four.

Thanks for that, I'll add that to my original post in case someone doesn't see your post.

And when trying to find your room just look at the wall that shows which room numbers are which direction. The second number will either be really low or a few hundred higher. This helps to know which side of ship and which direction to go, even if you do end up coming up/down an elevator you arrn't used to.

Load the DCL app on your smartphone, if you have one. You can always pull up a ship map if you get mixed up.

I always find it disconcerting that you have to walk through Cabana's to get to the pool deck if you are taking the aft elevators or vice versa. Even when Cabana's is closed, you can still do this. They will divert you to one side (I think usually port).

When going from place to place on the ship, we like to either walk on the pool deck (11) or the promenade (deck 4) as long as the weather is not too windy or rainy. It's great to stroll outside and it's generally less crowded than trying to walk down interior hallways or through public areas.

Only 2 of the 4 aft elevators go to deck 13 and only one goes to deck 14.

I get disoriented in the adult area all the time and have no suggestions to offer other than just have a drink at whatever bar you find yourself in!

You'll learn your way around. The ships are so beautiful and comfortable- it's a pleasure to discover where everything is.

If you are physically able, plan to take the stairs wherever you go. Not only will you burn off some of the extra calories you will be eating, but it will probably be faster. The elevators tend to be very crowded.
