DH and I will be staying at Saratoga Springs for the first time this July. For those who have stayed there, what's the transportation like? I would imagine we have to walk over to DTD to pick up a bus to take us to the parks or other resorts.

Any advice and/or information will be appreciated. :thumbsup2

Hi,
The transportation was a bit drawn out. Not bad, overall, though, imho.
The bus needs to stop at the other areas of the resort, much like the moderates.

No need to head over to DTD solely for heading to the parks, etc.:)

SSR is a beautiful resort, btw...

To go to the parks you can pick up a bus at one of the 3 bus stops on property. To go to another resort it definately would be quicker to walk to DTD and hop on a bus.

We were there in January and had no real problems with the transportation. To get to other resorts we walked over to DTD and jumped on the bus to whatever resort we needed. We also took the boat back from DTD one night--it was a nice trip, but it would have been quicker for us to walk. We never had any problems getting on a bus to the parks. It's murphy's law that says that whatever bus you're waiting for will be the last one to arrive. But that being said we never waited more than 15 min for any bus. I did notice at the Springs bus stop (the last one) that the busses could be pretty crowded by the time it reached that stop. We were staying in Congress Park and never had a problem with the busses being too crowded when they got to us.

Thank you all so much for the information! When we stay at the BWV everything is second nature. But now coming into a new "neighborhood" I want to try and make sure I understand how things work there.

We've very exceited about staying at SSR. This will be our first trip there; and without any kids!!!

Keep in mind that you CAN'T get a bus from DTD to any of the theme parks, and that you CAN'T get a bus from SSR to any of the other resorts.

Wanna get to a park -- stay in SSR and walk to a bus stop. Wanna get to another resort -- go over to DTD and take a bus from there.

HAVE FUN! We've been toying with the idea of buying in to DVC with SSR as our "home" resort. In just typing this out, it helped me realize that, because of its proximity to DTD, SSR is in a unique position to be pretty convenient as far as transportaiton to other resorts, in the same way that the monorail resorts have that same convenience (due to their proximity to the MK bus area).
