How can you ensure that you will get a table by the water at the Blue Bayou? I've always wanted to go (Had AP for 2 years now and still haven't gone) but I want to make sure I can sit by the water when I do go. How would I go about this?

You have to request a waterside table when you check in for your PS -- but there's no guarantee you'll get one. Good luck!

When you arrive to check in at Blue Bayou for you reservation time (arrive a little early) and state you are wishing a water-side table again....and being willing to wait a little bit too helps, If there are just a few in your party your chances are better, the larger the group the more limited aread to seat you....

Thanks! It will only be my boyfriend and I and waiting is fine so hopefully it will work out. If not I live 15 minutes away and have AP's so I can always try again:)

If you want a water side table then you will have to wait for one. I don't think they will take the request when you make your PS but you can request one when you check in.

We have gone twice and got a waterside table both times, once requested once just because.

call disney dining. I don't have the number off hand but I believe it is posted in a sicky at the the top of the forum or you can get it off the disneyland.com website.

This is the restaurant in Pirates right?
What kinds of food is it?
Do you always need a reservation?
Is is really expensive?
Good for kids?
Thanks!

Yes it is "in" Pirates.
Southern/Cajun
Yes reservations/PS are necessary, though you may be able to get same day PS by going to BB first thing in the AM.
Not cheap.
They have a kids menu that includes pasta, chicken nuggest and mini-corn dogs and if you get a table by the water they can watch boats of other guests go by.

Definitely go a bit early (I think we went about a 1/2 hour, and as luck would have it, they were able to take us right away.) But it helps to go a bit early & let them know you are OK to wait.

Also, you have a better chance of getting a waterside table if you get the first lunch reservation - I believe it is 11:30 - and go early to check in.

Is it always so hard to get in? Even if you go on a weekday in a slower season? Or are there times you can just walk in without a PS?

It is possible to just walk in occasionally but if you really want to eat there, I would make reservations.

We've eaten there three times this year and each time have gotten a water table on very busy weekend days. We:

1) Made reservations well in advance
2) Made reservations for 11:30 am
3) Showed up at 11:00 am and waited for them to start accepting check-ins for lunch.
4) Were able to be one of the first few parties to check in.

Worked like a charm each time.

However, if you want to eat at a later time, I have no idea how to guarantee a water table.

This is the exact procedure we're going to follow next month. Another plus for us is that it's for my mom's 50th birthday.. hopefully they'll choose us! :)

Do they only have lunch and supper seatings? (like 11-2, 5-7) or can you go in the middle of the afternoon, at like 3 or 4 for an early supper?

They only serve lunch/dinner but they do not close between the 2. Lunch is served opening until 4 (I think) dinner from 4 - close.

We were there in May and ate lunch at 2:30 pm. It was crowded (the beginning of Memorial Day weekend). There were 4 of us... we asked, but didn't get a water seat... it was just too crowded. I'm glad we mades reservations. Food was great, especially the Monte Cristo Sandwich. I could have split it with someone! I found the portions large.

This was a first for us... we loved it!

A trip to DL isn't complete without a visit to BB
I've been able to get a waterside table every time I've asked. Just make sure they know you are willing to wait!!!!
I was surprised by how many people in boats talked to us this last time!!!
