Getting a chair at SAB

Going to the Yacht Club in August. If my family of 4 will probably like to have 2 chairs around SAB to keep on stuff on. If we leave to of our own personal pool towels and our stuff on two of the chairs will it be OK? I mean, do people tend to bother your stuff there. And if we were to go get a bite to eat say at the Boardwalk Bakery or Hurricane Hannahs, will the lifequards move our stuff? Do we need to be at SAB at opening to get a chair or two?

If you leave the pool (to eat, to go back to the room), you should take your things with you and free up the chairs for someone else to use. This would make it easier for your family and other families to find a spot.

Oh, ok. Is there a shortage of seating there? Makes me wonder. We may just get one chair to keep our stuff on and just leave it there if we wonder off for a bite to eat. We would'nt be in it for much at all. Just to leave our towels, sunblock, ect in it. So one may be enough for us.

It depends on the time of year and the temperature. It can get crowded in the afternoons.

We have stayed at BC and BCV too many times to remember. We have always been able to find a chair at SAB - there always seems to be someone leaving whenever we go to the pool and need a chair. Will you be able to get the perfect chair and the exact number that you want if you go later in the afternoon? Probably not - but with a little searching, one usually opens up. We leave our stuff on our chairs while we are in the pool and hot tub. We have never had the lifeguard or another guest disturb our stuff.

I think if you are going to the boardwalk to get something to eat you should move your stuff, but if you are just going to hurricane Hanna's or B&C or even the marketplace and are still in the BC & YC area you could leave your stuff

Absolutely spot on....people leave their things all day and my family of 5 always has trouble just finding one open chair when we go late august. If you are at the pool then yes, grab chairs, leave your things...enjoy! If you leave other than to go to HHs or Beaches and Cream for a quick bite you should take your things with you.

I disagree. I think it is reasonable to use 1 chair to leave stuff on if you are going to eat at BC and coming back to the pool. People get up at 7:30 to go put stuff on chairs and tables, go to the parks and come back hours later to their saved chairs and tables. I follow my own rules at the pool - if I see a chair or table with only white disney towels on it that is not used or approached in an hour I move those towels and take the spot.

We don't keep a chair for each kid, but do prefer to have a table with shade for the moms who want to be out of the sun. and when we have to go get food for the kids we have them sit on the ground on towels instead of taking up chairs they wouldn't be using while they were in the pool.

We only keep stuff on the chairs while we are actually swimming at the pool. If we leave to go eat, we take everything with us. No point keeping somebody from having a dry spot to use when I'm not actually there.

I totally agree. One trip we couldn't find anywhere to put our stuff -- just wanted to keep it off the wet pavement while we swam. We finally found a rock and piled everything on there. There were lots of chairs, but they were all filled with other people's belongings...:confused3 On our last trip there were chairs available... I guess it just depends on the day.

As long as you're planning to remain in the pool area (pool, hot tub or HH), then you'll be fine leaving your stuff on a chair. If you're planning to leave the area (parks, Boardwalk) then you shouldn't tie up chairs with your belongings, in fact, if you do, don't be surprised to come back and find your stuff moved. We were there last August and we saw CM's monitoring the area & moving stuff off chairs quite a bit. In fact, there were signs all around the pool about not saving chairs. Our family of 4 had a hard time finding chairs each day so more often than not, we'd try to get at least 2 and switch off. SAB gets quite crowded and finding chairs especially at peak times can be very difficult.

It's a big reason we quit staying there.... We've seen guests go early to the pool area, stake out 4-6 chaise lounges with pool towels, spread across the seat and back, and leave.... To return later in the day.... SAB pool area is always jammed up , impossible to get a seat, not just for stuff but to lay out and enjoy the sun....never was monitored well so we moved on.... Pool time is important to us!

:thumbsup2 this .... There aren't nearly enough chairs for everyone staying at the resort and its not fair to the other guests to "reserve" a chair(s) when someone is not even there.

Yc BC should have cabanas like at poly. Worth it the price. But I love yc BC better than poly

Well in our experiences we have watched time and time again Lifeguards making their rounds and collecting towels off chairs they know have not seen anyone using for hours. They really clear the entire area if the pool is closed temporarily due to a passing thunderstorm.

We had someone come over and yell at us once for "taking their chairs". The chairs were completely empty when we sat there an hour earlier. Maybe the lifeguards had removed their towels? :confused3 But having another guest yell at us was really upsetting to me, especially because we didn't even like the chairs we were stuck with :lmao:. If I was going to "steal" someones chair, it would have been in the shade. We just took the only 2 chairs available. And yes, this was in August. We'll be there again soon, I do hope it will be better. I loved SAB, and loved the BC. I just hated the chair situation.

So, in short, if you are going to be there, sure, take a couple of chairs. If you are leaving the BC/YC/SAB area, then take your things with you and find something else later on. HH is fine, because you are still in the area. But BWI is too far, IMHO.

Yes. There is a shortage of seating there. This is due mainly to the fact that its such a popular pool and it is shared by 3 different resorts (BC, YC, BCV) ALos depends on the weather - its its good pool weather a lot of people will be there.
