Get this! They have already cancelled school for tomorrow due to

I never would have thought to check for school closings tomorrow.
(My DD is in preschool, no busing). Sure enough it's canceled.

Okay, well congratulations to all the kids in k-high school, but the college kids apparently have to suffer :(

Which doesn't really make much sense to me, considering I have to walk four blocks to get to class :(

Excuse me while i wallow in self pity ;) I thought this was Boston, not Antarctica!

They announced as we were leaving this afternoon that we have a 90 minute delay tomorrow. They also said they have not ruled out the possibility of a cancellation, just because it is so cold. It's only 7:30 and the windchill is already -25, and it's supposed to get colder. The air's supposed to get colder too and that's -5. I'm actually hoping we do have school because midterms start next Tuesday, whether or not we have classes tomorrow. With all of the schools around here cancelled there's a good chance they will cancel in the end. The buses not starting is a big problem; however I know there is an additive sold that keeps the fuel from jelling. My dad uses it and his truck is running great.

My girls all came home from school today with letters stating that they must wear hats, gloves, scarves and no skirts or dresses!! Also that there was a 90 minute delay..............since then they have cancelled school all together!

DD #1 (7th grade) stated she was NOT wearing a hat!!! She is lucky she doesn't have school tomorrow or should would definetly have hat head when she got there as I would be driving her and making her wear one!! LOL!!

Stay warm all my friends.............and see you all next month when we discuss the rising cost of our heating bills??!!! LOL!!

Both DSs came home today and said their principals had announced that school would probably be closed tomorrow. Sure enough, I just checked one of the Boston's new's channels web sites and both schools are closed (two different school districts). As of last count there were close to 300 schools closed for tomorrow, here in MA. Even if the buses would start, supposedly you could get frost bite in 10 minutes outside in these temps. Also, between the hours of 3am - 9am, the temp is going to be minus 25 to minur 45 degrees, with the wind chill. Personally, I'm glad school is closed tomorrow. :) (DSs are even more glad it's closed. LOL)

All schools around me were on a delay this morning. The school I work at (about 20 minutes away from the district I live in) was the only one that closed in this area.

All schools in the area posted a 2 hour delay for tomorrow. The wind is really whipping here in Central PA. While I believe it is for the cold, there are still many rural roads that are snow/ice covered.

In my part of Mid Michigan they only close the schools for extreme cold if there are children who "walk" to school. If they are all bussed then they don't close.

My son went to a private Montessori school until he was 10, there was no transportation provided and no "walkers" so his school was never closed because of cold. They did close for extremely heavy snow fall, though.

Don't be too sure that the children without hats and with open coats took the items off on the bus. The twins (3 1/2) were the only children at their preschool in snowpants and boots. While nobody was in a dress, several children didn't have have on mittens. What killed me was that some of these parents were looking at me like I was nuts for over dressing my kids.

Oh, and so far the preschool is open tommorow. I would keep them home, but I have to take my DD out for an appointment with a pediatric orthapedist (DS will come too). It took two months to get this appointment, so I don't want to cancel. Since we'll be bundled up and out anyway, I'll probably bring them to school.

Ya'll are tougher people than me, I do not know how you deal with such cold weather. We will go down in the teens and occassionaly 0 during the winter but right now we're at 34. I'm getting chills just reading your posts. Stay warm and plan those trips to WDW or the carribbean:sunny:
