On Friday evening a dear friend of mine lost a very close family member (7 year old boy) in a tragic drowning accident while he attended a birthday party at a local community with a private lake. By Saturday morning the (presumably) well-meaning members of the Resident's Association had started a gofundme account linked to the Community FB page to raise funds to contribute to funeral expenses. These people don't know my friend's family and did not consult them in any way. The family is outraged and humiliated that people have been led to assume they don't have the means to bury their child and that they would even consider appealing to strangers if that were in fact the case. How miserably presumptuous, and how much needless upset this has caused my friend and her family. Seriously, who does that?? Social media has sent the world to hell in a handcart!
My almost 35-year old stepson moved in with us following the end of his engagement. We're not asking for rent or grocery money. We asked one thing of him: pick up after yourself.
Every day, we come home to dirty dishes and empty food containers on the kitchen counter, dining table, end table in the living room and in the office. He even gets up from meals and leaves his plate there while we're cleaning up. And no, we don't clear his plate.
We've repeatedly reminded him of our one request. Some of the dishes have at least made it to the sink. But not the dishwasher. Ugh.
His former fiancee dodged a bullet with him, lol.
