What kind of dog is Lucy? She's beautiful. :)

Thanks! We think so too.. We're not sure what she is. We got her from the humane society when she was 2 months old. They told us lab, border collie and Australian Shepard, but we don't think that's right. We've got a lot of votes for whippet and maybe some type of terrier.

I was thinking her head looks a lot like my Italian greyhound Dobby, so I think you might be right with whippet mix. I'm glad she's doing a little better and hope she continues to improve!

Me too! I know someone with two Italian greyhounds and they are so cute! Think Lucy's temperament fits, too. She totally on about 10-20% of the day and then she's a couch potato. She's a total diva too and lives everybody.

Having so much trouble staying focused! I've been really good about getting the workouts in but this morning I just did not want to get out of bed. Now I have anxiety about missing a running day. I've been running 3.1 miles 3 times a week consistently, but still have to slow down usually only once during the run. I've incorporated some arm strength work but haven't been doing it long enough to say it's part of the routine. I've also inconsistently been walking in the two off running days- some weeks are better than others.

What continues to be the bigger struggle is eating healthier. I'm eating lots of salads for lunch and breakfast is under control. It's just dinner is such a pain to plan and stick to after a long day. Also, the nicer weather has brought back a desire for some drinks here or there and other kinds of treats that have been around since Easter/teacher week/Mothers Day.

I haven't stepped on the scale because I'm scared of it- but I feel good- fitting into a smaller, regular size for me than last summer where I was the heaviest I've been. Of course Id love to lose more- I guess it just shows what a journey this is. It's not fast and it's not easy and it has ups an downs. But I just need to stay focused and keep with it- always afraid of just falling off the wagon.

I totall understand where you are coming from DisMom. I doing really well during the day for eating as I bring my breakfast and lunch to work. It is supper and evening that throws me. I agree it is a process and you have to keep going forward and stop beating ourselves up when things don't happen the way we invisioned them.

Also this week I only workout last Sunday. My excuses have been Monday didn't as I worked out on Sun, Tues nite I lost the internet and spent over an hour on the phone trying to get it fixed which didn't happen as they had to send a new modem plus on phone for way over an hour with a friend. Wed nite I had a meeting and thurs got the modem and had to get that all setup as I had problems:faint:. plus I has an RMT masage and she went deep so had a soaker bath, feeling a little stiff today

So tonite is the nite getting on that treadclimber and wathc Army wives on Netflex. I live in Canada and don't have access to the US Netflix without going though a different setup which I did so all should be good.

Once I get on the TC I am good it is just gettting there.

I could have written this.

just joining in. DD 15 and I are going to POR riverside 8/9. I am 5'2" and weigh 210 lbs. I'd like to lose 30 lbs before going. But most importantly, i'd like to walk faster without being out of breath. I used to be able to walk fast and far even when I was fat but once I reached 200 lbs, it became very hard to walk fast. My asthma is back so losing wt will help that. I'm hoping Disney motivates me to make good lifestyle choices that I end up sticking with for good.

my goal this week was to walk the dogs three times. Did it and still have today and Sat to do more. But we're talking 30 min walks. Disney in August walking all day scares me. I did it last year but I was a little less heavy and we went in Feb, no heat.

I'm glad this thread is here

Would like to lose 40 by August. I guess that won't happen though huh??? A girl can dream can't she?? Three kids can really take a toll on your body especially when you weren't in the best of shape to begin with. I'll be happy with losing 15 by our trip in the middle of August.

you know what kills me, there are people on Trip Advisor who take points away from POR because it doesn't have a gym or they talk about running on the many paths. I can't imagine being such an exercise junkie that I could come home from the parks and want to workout or run. To lure me to run, there would have to be a cast member holding out Soarin' Fast Passes and I have to catch him, lol.

Hello everyone! :wave2:
I just found out today that my diabetes is not under control as it should be and I have 2 heel spurs on my left foot!
I have two months to try and work on both of these issues before our WDW Trip in August!:hourglass
I'm going to go back to Weight Watchers because I think it's the safest and most natural way to lose weight!:woohoo: I have a good friend who works PT for WW and I can go to her classes!
I will post next Saturday if that's okay!
Good luck everyone!:cheer2:

Countdown: 11 Weeks until August 1

Hi and welcome!:wave2: I agree there seems to be a weight that is "too much" for us. Mine is around 190-200. My knee starts hurting (old issue), my blood pressure goes up, I have trouble sleeping... Even being around 10 pounds less than that seems to make a huge difference. Good luck!

Of course you can dream! That's why we're here.. :thumbsup2 What are your exercise and diet plans?

So sorry to hear about your health issues. I can totally empathize. I'm also trying to get healthier so that I can enjoy my WDW trip to the fullest.

Hi everyone! I kind of checked in yesterday, so I won't go into detail about my very emotionally exhausting week...

I do want to discuss my goals a little bit, though. So there are 10 weeks until August 1st; more specifically 13 weeks until my trip. Since we started 12 weeks ago, I've lost 8 pounds which I'm very happy with given everything I've had to deal with during this time. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who have joined in this journey. I know I wouldn't have kept my focus through all this without you!

When I started, my focus was getting healthy with a 20-40 pound weight loss. That's still my long term goal for "eventually," and I plan to continue towards this goal after my trip. It may be possible to still reach the first number; 12 pounds in 13 weeks isn't entirely impossible. I'm shifting my focus, though, to getting in shape for the trip and hoping the weight part of it comes along for the ride. I'm going to focus more on walking/endurance and strength training. In other words I'm going to start training for the trip. I'm definitely a smaller size than a little less than 3 months ago (has it really been that long?) But I feel like I need to tone up now.

Food-wise, I'm going to try to eat more during the day. I usually eat 3 meals, so I'm going to plan two mid meal healthy snacks to avoid that hungry feeling late in the day. I've been losing it at night. Not late at night, but the time between getting home from work and dinner has been less that ideal.

For those keeping track, Lucy is feeling better. Enough to make me a nervous wreck. She's on crate rest for at least one more week. She wants to do things now that I'm worried will hurt her before she's healed. Her back end isn't as wobbly, but she is kind of listing to the right. I think I'll take her for just 3 more laser treatments (no more acupuncture).

I haven't always been posting, but I have been reading and keeping up with everyone. I'm wishing everyone good luck with your own journeys!

Question for everyone: Have you modified your fitness/weight loss goal(s)
for your August trip from what they were originally? Please share as you check in this week..

ETA: I just had to mention, we had a frost advisory this morning.. Really? Urgh, I can't take it much longer..

we moved in October and the treadmill has been buried in the basement. It's getting moved to the family room today. yay!

I'd have to say no. I never really had a goal for how much weight I wanted to lose (8lbs so far) as I figured that would just happen as a bi-product of living a healthier lifestyle. I have changed what and how much I eat and not only started exercising but have worked my way up to running close to 3 miles a day, 3 days a week and walking the other 3 with 1 day off. My ultimate goal (which I have mentioned before) is to run 10 miles at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10 miler in October 2015.

Right now I'm continuing to train for my next 5K on Monday, May 26th. It's called The Black Fly Blitz and believe me, there will be black flies there. Blech!

Hi all

Sorry for the delayed check in. Weighed in today and I have lost 6 lbs this month. I hope to run more this month if it ever warms up:)
