Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014 Group

Hey everyone!

Digimom- I also started probiotics a month or two ago and they are really helping me with the fiber issue since I am juicing. Are they helping you?

WahkoMom- Congrats on getting signed up for the marathon! That's huge!

DisMom1981- Congrats on the loss and keeping up with the workouts. That is my biggest challenge, working out. I'm trying to get there. You're an inspiration!

So, I had a bad couple of weeks and didn't start my exercising as planned because of increased schoolwork that was due, but I ordered and received my fitbit and have been using it for the past 8 days now. I play volleyball Wednesday nights, but that was the only exercise I was getting until this week. I have walked the past four days, 2 miles each day. It feels great although my hamstrings were really tight. I found some exercises and stretches to do for them and they are helping. So I have approximately 18 weeks to get to where I want to be before Disney.... taking it one day at a time :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE this weather though!!!

Checking in

Wow what a week. Up and down, highs and lows, but I've been making an effort to continue with healthy eating and exercise. Admittedly my exercise isn't intense or long right now, but more than I feel like doing before I start. I have felt some muscle sorriness, so I think that means I'm doing some good. :thumbsup2

It's the beginning of a new week which means anything that went wrong last week can be forgotten and it's time to start fresh. :goodvibes

Well, for about three days before going to the ER I didn't keep much down. So I was pretty empty when I had my surgery. Plus the gave me IV antibiotics. So I took the probiotics when I got home before waiting to see if I had a problem. Proactive probiotics :) But I took them before this fiasco as well and I do think they help.

I typed a whole update of our vacation so far and lost the post! Here is a quicker recap. Saturday was driving and difficult to eat good choices at quick stops- in the summer I'm off so it's easier to plan on bringing healthier foods for the road. I got barely any steps since this was a travel day. Yesterday we did a lot of walking so I got my 10k steps in and ate lightly. Today I kept my routine and walked to the clubhouse for my week 8- 28 minute run. It was an old treadmill in a hot, small room where I was hogging the machine- I paused with about 12 minutes left to let someone else use the machine and then ran the rest of the time through the neighborhood. I hate that I paused in the middle - probably was about 5-8 minutes but I did complete the workout an I did work out on vacation! I got a lot more steps than I normally get an did some outdoor running. I was surprised at how much of a "routine" I'm in and how much impact traveling can have on it. I hope everyone is doing well! Such a beautiful day, I decided to ride TWO horses today! Hope it counteracted my weekend Blizzard eating. :/

I've been a little distracted lately and have not done well with eating and hit or miss with exercise/logging. So I'm recommitting myself to focus on what's necessary to get the job done by our vacation in August. Doing a big shop tonight to get my essentials and then some little shops through the weekend to get odds and ends.

I can't believe it's Thursday all ready. This week is just flying by and I figured it would go slowly since the kids and I have school vacation next week. So looking forward to not having anywhere to go so I can get some things done around the house.

Any hoo, so far so good I'm still getting my run/walks in and I'm still following the WW program from 2003. (I've got the books and points slider from when I did the program back then) I've moved a couple of my runs outside and I still can't believe how different running on the track is from running on the treadmill. It really hit me hard to discover that I could not run as long outside as I did inside. I've only done 2 runs but did gain a lap from the first to the second so I'm feeling a little better about it. I might have mentioned all this before so please forgive for bending your ears about it, again. :goodvibes

This weekend should be an interesting eating weekend. Cake for my soon to be DS13's birthday, cookies I'll be baking and Easter dinner at my MIL's. Trying to mentally prep myself to eat small amounts so that I can enjoy it all. And let's not forget the Easter candy that will be laying about within easy reach. (small amounts, small amounts)

I hope everyone has a great day! :cool2:

Awesome milestones running outside! I'm nervous about Easter weekend. Most if the vacation eating hasn't been awful but today is the last day and it's been pretty bad. In that sense in looking forward to getting home and back to a routine!

I'm fearing this is where all will go off the rails for me, too. We're in NYC for Easter, and then the following weekend is a quick trip to WDW. Damage could be done. :/

Countdown: 15 weeks until August 1st!

Losing weight is not your life’s work. Your life’s work is to love, to serve, to be honest, to develop personal integrity, to be kind, to raise healthy children, to grow spiritually, to adore yourself. Which is not to say you can’t choose to shed some excess baggage. You’ll just do it with a sense of perspective.
