Get in line, or get fastpass first?

I've found the answer to the above queston.

Upon arrival at a park, with an attraction you wanna experience more than once, where fastpasses are to be had ...

By all means stop by and get a fastpass first, just after park opening. Then hustle on over and then get into the standby line. That's because the standby line is moving quick early on because folks are not yet able to use the fastpasses. Later on, when fastpasses are being accepted, the standby line moves very slowly.

That's one way. There are many who would say the opposite strategy works better for them.

Depends on ride actually. Soarin and TSM SB line grow in no time in a morning. We found it better to ride first and then take care of FPs, even if they will be for later time. But for many rides your strategy is the best imo. We grabbed FP for Splash and DD rode SB with practically no people. She could even do it again as SB turned into 15 min which is again, nothing. Therefore she could do this ride 3 times, twice SB and the FP in 1 hour.

I heard a cm mention they are typically out of toy story mania fp by 11a. That is one you have to get first thing, for us we get there at park open and ride/fp at once. Love the strategy of it all..

If you g get the FastPass first, it will have a closer return window, allowing you to get another FastPass earlier.

But then the standby line might have quite a wait by that time. You really have to arrive early and enter the park right when it opens.

Honestly, though, we end up riding first. We even ended up being the first riders of the day for Toy Story Mania during our last trip.

We were able to get fast passes and be in the first car of the day at toy story on Monday. We ate breakfast and were waiting for parking opening at Hollywood and Vine and were well ahead of the crowd when they opened.

We arrive at DHS for rope drop. We used to head straight for TSMM to pull a fastpass first and then ride standby. But, since Disney started the fp window enforcement, we reversed it and ride standby first and then pull a fastpass because of the shorter return time. :goodvibes
